Well that is still confusing as they were doing The Hobbit then an original and bridging movie.. I am still hoping they will do this

Apparently they scrapped that idea and are doing the whole book in two parts.

I would prefer that. i don't remember The Hobbit being long enough to warrant 2 films.

Funny, but I read LOTR first, then The Hobbit. It's like deja vu all over again.

Well, to get enough of the book in it would have to be. One minute is roughly one page. Translating a book in to script roughly doubles the length or something like that.

I would've thought the opposite. A whole page dedicated to describing a scene could be done in a second on film where you can just see it.

Yes and no, because you have to capture facial motions, do the combat, and justify the explanations of the scene through what you present visually, and you have to fill in what's not there in the books = travelling across the lands, for example, through a MONTAGE! (FUCK YEAH!)

One page of script is one minute of film. NOT true for a real book, however. The arrival of the Swan Knights and the other late arriving forces at the Pelinor, for example.

I think that was based on a short story I read around 1965. Loosely.

Anyway, the "targeted advertising" in the lower left was especially funny this time.
