Greetings from TAF!

Post by Mephistopheles » Tue Feb 09, 2010 4:15 am

Hey guys,

I'm a member over at Thinking Aloud Forums. Some of you may know me. Just popping in and looking around. Not sure if I'll have the time or interest to post here regularly; we'll see.

Not much else to say, I guess...unless people want a deconversion story and whatnot.

Peace,

Meph

I see RA's already here...fucker. :P

My deconversion story is pretty lame, actually. I spent most of my childhood largely not believing in the bullshit Bible stories Catholic school forced upon me, occasionally interrupted by fears of hell and damnation, but never once with any sort of "spiritual" experience that would help reinforce said fantastical methodology. Didn't start publicly expressing my doubts until I was in high school, went through a short agnostic phase where I was still convinced Pascal's argument might hold some truth value and just went through the ritualistic motions as a safety net (it was a Jesuit school). It wasn't until I was in college, away from the crazies and with a proper internet connection, that I was able to strengthen my knowledge where it was weak and shake away all doubts. Had a brief period of excessive aggression towards anything and everything religious, and am now of the opinion that apart from killing us all the only way religion will be obliterated is with ridicule, not reason.

Yeah, somebody left the window open. :hehe:

Not lame. Inspirational, sorta. Good to know that the BS of religion is so self-evident, even to Jesuit school children. Welcome, fellow sinner!
