I was waiting for it to call the girl "Sugar tits".

:funny: Now you mention that I kinda see it -argh! I never thought of that! I actually quite fancy the big blue Jake lol

Did you see it in 3D dev?

No - our shitty local cinema doesn't have 3D yet - however, I'm not too bothered as I have read complaints about it in 3D.

I have now decided to get my own private cinema - it is remarkable how so many people find it impossible to sit the fuck down and shut up for a couple of hours. There were times when I was absolutely lost in the majesty of the film, and then I would be snapped out of it by some annoying cunt two rows in front of me getting up to go for a piss.

All I will say is that Cameron is an absolute master of the cinematic experience. Of course we can all pick holes in the plots of his films or whatever, but he sees cinema as enterntainment and he delivers the fucking goods spectacularly.

I will never forget those shots of Pandora at the start of the film as the spacecraft approached - sci-fi art at its finest. The other thing Cameron learned is that for big time sci-fi to work humans must be put at the heart of the story - that's why Star Trek is so incredibly popular - it reflects the best and worst in humanity.

If you want to see picking holes, check this out:

http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/di ... 1264428107

Across almost 10,000 pretty long and involved posts over ten years the Titanic community has dissected his 1997 film, and the consensus is that while we can leave the love story there is massive admiration for how he depicted the real history around his Jack and Rose plot device - Cameron's attention to detail was almost insanely intense.

Avatar is an amazingly beautiful film - to think I only paid £6 to see something that fantastic.

Trust me and go and see it in 3D when you get the chance.. or make the chance - I have seen very very few people complain about it (almost no one) .. most people are gobsmacked by it. It completely enhances the experience and brings Pandora even more to life.

It makes obvious CGI animation even more obvious is what it does.

I disagree, and anyway, the thing that annoys me most about CGI is when it is used just for the sake of it - it's something I think the new Star Trek film was guilty of - it was just too "busy", there was just so much wam bam CGI that it eventually became tiring. I didn't get that with Avatar.

WTF? You really thought that?
Way better examples would be Transformers 2 and Indiana Jones ATKOTCS.

I actually liked the first one. It was a fun movie :hmph:
The second one was beyond fun though and was totally ridiculous.

Found the reverse, actually. CGI in Star-trek was entertaining even though a little excessive because they were used generally well, Avatar was just... bland. Ignoring story issues, the actual action scenes were just... boring, standard.

They were both shit.

It's supposed to be

Transformers: Robots in Disguise

Not

Transformers: Teen angst with a big metal talking thingy.

Well at least it was advertised as what it was. I actually figured out why Avatar annoyed me so much. Its because Cameron advertised it as a serious sci-fi movie (the ad said From the director of "Terminator 2" and "Aliens" totally misleading and inappropriate to Avatar.) instead of what it was, a family movie. If he had of advertised it that way I may have liked it like I did Finding Nemo.

It should have been advertised less like this...

Actually it also said from the director of "Titanic" and Cameron made no secret of wanting to make this movie the Star Wars of this generation - there is a line of toys, a computer game, promotions at McDonalds etc... as I said previously its code name was Project 880 (For ages 8-80). If you expected it to be a movie for adults that was your error
