I thought it was unobtainable? Can't be called @unobtainium@ if its obtainable. It should be called @obtainium@.
EDIT: Dammit. My keyboard's tuned into an American one. WTF?

Oh really? Hunting endangered animals? Extincting a species? Background? THAT WAS THE FUCKING PLOT.born-again-atheist wrote:I thought UP was pretty average to be honest, but it was small scale, and the 'Environmental message' was background, not written in ALL CAPS like it was undoubtedly in Avatar's script.Gawdzilla wrote:And UP didn't have a heavy environmental message combined with a HUGE load of schmaltz?born-again-atheist wrote:Originality isn't compulsory, it just makes it different.
It's execution, and Avatar was completely and utterly fucking average. I saw it in 3d and the animated short shown before that had a dog and the ball beat it by miles.
I watched UP, and that was a fuck load better than Avatar.
The problem with Avatar is that it was pretentious, preachy and relied far too heavily on shiny things.

Actually, the plot was obsession, letting go of the past and moving towards the future. The House was the most important prop in the entire thing.Gawdzilla wrote:Oh really? Hence why it was like a MOTHERFUCKING SNAKE ON A MOTHERFUCKING PLANE through the entire film.

Here is an interesting article on departures from Project 880.. it makes for a sad read as you realise how much better the movie could have been

Re: Avatar
You're obviously just looking to bitch about it.. and it's amazing how many people seem to know how better to make a film than the man who has the two biggest grossing films of all time.born-again-atheist wrote:Originality isn't compulsory, it just makes it different.

And the thing is..... the shiny things ARE A PART of what Avatar is.. you might as well complain that there should have been no dinosaurs in Jurassic Park

Again, the amount of money Avatar makes does not render an unfavourable opinion invalid....
