Yeah, just watched it. David Tennant was the best Doctor. The new guy has got a lot to live up to.
I think is regeneration was a little over-dramatic though. That sort of drama should be reserved for the end of the 13th Doctor.

Re: Doctor Who
I agree. Past Doctors have played down the regeneration saying the same person was still there 'inside'. This one played it like a real death scene. But hell, he was the best so far!Deep Sea Isopod wrote:Rum wrote:Just finished! Full of nonsense but brilliant!

I'm just off to play Scrabble. Hubby has Dr.Who recorded but is so banned from watching it while we play! Or Stagate, startrek, or any of the buggers! He already takes too long to go!

Re: Doctor Who
The last goodbyes felt very contrived in this episode. I still loved the episode, where the only actor that didn't feel convincing was Timothy Dalton oddly enough. And the rant of the Doctor before he steps in the glass booth is one of the most powerful Dr. Who scenes ever.

That was a good scene. DT was fucking brilliant as Hamlet as well.leo-rcc wrote:The last goodbyes felt very contrived in this episode. A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

What do we know about the new one? Matt Smith? I've never heard of him.

Tried watching the Doctor on BBCA last night. Tennant spent most of the show (the part I watched) mugging. I haven't seen that since the silent films.

Re: Doctor Who
Yeah... I think he was great in some of them, and I seriously think he's one of the finest actors around right now... over here at least... but it just seems like he spent at least a year acting like he'd been surprised from behind with a sink splodger. Plus all the emoting kind of got on my tits.Gawdzilla wrote:Tried watching the Doctor on BBCA last night. Tennant spent most of the show (the part I watched) mugging. William Hartnell on the other hand... in real life, he swore like a sailor (or at least like a sailor who swears quite a lot), harboured dubious views (allegedly) which are most kindly characterised as being "of their time", enjoyed the odd refreshing cold drink, was very generous with his ciggies, and wasn't scared to use his fists when things got lively. And for me he carried much of that magic over to his portrayal of the doctor as a truly disagreeable old bugger whose response to emotional episodes were a goodly jab of walking cane and a stern "pull yourself together, man!"
