I read it under "Anson MacDonald", and thought, "Here's a guy who could give Heinlein some lessons."wolfréalt wrote:.Gawdzilla wrote:That's one of the two all-time great time paradox stories, the other being "By His Bootstraps". Whoa...By his bootstraps...... Read that many years ago, as a kid, didn,t remember the name though, as was checking it on wiki, felt like a temporal shift was occuring.....The circle has closed.!!

I have just finished an astonishing book called 'The Fabric of the Cosmos' by Brian Greene. One of the reasons it is astonishing besides the subject matter, as an aside, is that it helped me, a total maths dodo, to understand at least in metaphorical laypersons terms, issues ranging from resolving quantum mechanics with relativity, the nature of time and space and the nature of the stuff of the universe itself. I do recommend it.lofuji wrote:I've only just heard about this latest idea, via an email from my son. My reaction is to think that they're getting their excuses in early for when they don't find the Higgs boson, which I expected anyway. I readily admit that I don't understand most of the theory in modern cosmology, but I've long held the suspicion that the Big Bang theory is not all it's cracked up to be. No doubt someone here will enlighten me.
Looks good, Rum. I just read the Amazon reviews.Rrrrrrrraaaaummmme! wrote:I have just finished an astonishing book called 'The Fabric of the Cosmos' by Brian Greene. In passing at one pint he does point out that the Big Bang theory is not a theory about how the universe was created, but how it evolved from the microsecond after it came into being and for the following thirteen billion years. I knew that really, but seeing it written made me think a bit.
One of the things that I came away from reading the book with was a reminder of how deeply mysterious the universe we live in really is. Who needs the supernatural?
Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. -Douglas Adams
