I grew up on sesame street (the Dutch version) and "Er was eens" (once upon a time, a french animation series on the history of the world and humans)

As I grew a little older, I also watched "the French Chef" with Julia Child and then the Jeff Smith cooking programs and all the "Doctor Who" I could get my hands on (like a religion!) on PBS. If we'd had cable, I probably would have watched something non-redeeming. I look back on those PBS days rather fondly. Nothing compares - however, Sesame Street really seems to have lost its lustre. It's time to retire.

I grew up on PBS... from the children's shows to things like Jeff Smith and the nature programs... it was the only place to see Monty Python and other British comedy shows, which defined my sense of humour. And on Saturday nights they always showed a really cool old movie that you'd never see anywhere else. I loved it.

I grew up on PBS too, no cable. I loved Reading Rainbow, Mister Rogers, Shining Time Station, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and Ghostwriter.

Sadly, I really enjoyed watching the various incarnations of "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego." Talk about age-inappropriate !

At what age are we talking about, while your friends were sneaking into R-rated films?

I don't remember when that show was on the air, but I was no kid. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching it. In addition to my own porn, the French Chef, Jeff Smith, etcetera.
In addition, I can't take my eyes off of you. That dang Mona Lisa portrait has the same effect its had on people for centuries. Even with another visage, it's mesmerizing. I said "in addition" twice. Ooops, that's three times !

The one thing that's always stuck with me about Jeff Smith is “Hot pan, cold oil, food won't stick!” My first husband was quite a devotee of The Frugal Gourmet.

I don't think so, but he's never married again... That could mean one of two things.
