This will come as a shock to nobody.

I reckon the Colorado police have come out of this whole incident as gullible morons though

He's such an adorable little boy. I feel sorry for him. He threw up in both TV interviews when the subject came up of his "hiding" in the box in the garage, and why he didn't answer when people were calling out looking for him. More disgusting was the look of disgust on his father's when the boy threw up. You'd think a loving and caring father would comfort him and ask if he was okay. But his father only looked annoyed :?
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Better still, the look the father gave him when he outed the whole thing. Expecting a 6 yo to keep his lies straight? Dad needs a chainsaw enema.

Im concerned for the children's safety. He doesnt seem like the kind of guy who would be ok with his kids outing everything.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

In fairness - if someone tells you their child is most likely floating off in their hot air balloon on his own - and you can locate a free-floating hot air balloon - you have to respond as though the story about the child were true, and worry about being mocked for gullibility later. You can't really afford scepticism at the outset in a scenario where a child's life is in jeopardy. As the situation progressed, of course, they could have been a little more alert - but these parents are purportedly also good actors... Meh... It didn't take them too long, all told. :coffee:

Yeah - one does wonder why his dad didn't prime him before the interview, or even deliberately keep him out of the interview group on the pretense of him being 'tired' or 'upset' or something. And why did the dad also then do other interviews when his son ratted on him again? I'm speaking purely from the point-of-view of the dad looking out for his interests here. It seems monumentally stupid to hinge a (criminal) publicity stunt on a 6yo being in on your little plan and getting his story straight and knowing when to keep shtum. Well, some kids can grasp these things - and they will demonstrate it when they plot with other kids against you  - but the trick would be at least to make sure the kid firmly understands why they shouldn't tell the news reporter it's "part of the show".

Not that I have any problem with the kid's actions. It's just that it highlights his father's incompetence here so starkly. I love the kid. He's still sweet and innocent and unlike his parents, he still understands and appreciates simple honesty. I wish him all the best, and hope his parents at least aren't abusive (outside of this stunt) or anything.
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Child services are allegedly looking into taking the kids from the parents. There are also some reports that the father has hit the mother before.

I'm not too surprised. You do get that 'controlling and selfish' vibe...

I agree, and as a parent, the man is responsible for raising his children with social ethics. What he's done to this child runs counter to both the child's own developing sense of right and wrong, and the child's best interests as a member of society, not to mention the psychological damage this has likely caused to the boy. Yes, disgusting. :(

If this man can't see the huge error here, he's not fit to raise children.

He's a con-man, and is probably raising a new generation of con-men.

Of course the mother is not free of complicity in this, either.

Hopefully, as an absolute minimum, the parents are handed the full bill for the no doubt very expensive and unnessessary rescue operation.

$14,000 for the helos, and hourly wages for about 100 emergency personnel. Sounds about right.

Then there's all the subsequent police investigations which must have tied up dozens of people for a few days. :nono:

The kids called falcon and they claimed he had flown ,also fal-CON .

The father is a dick ......if he wants to be on a reality TV show I've got a good idea, Tie him to a large ballon and we can all look look to see where his corpse lands ,first person to spot it gets a prize .
