If the Taliban gained control of Pakistan...
Two bits on news today. The Taliban in Pakistan are creating chaos with multiple attacks on various institutions. Their objective, on the surface at any rate, is to establish an Islamic state. Seems to me there is at least a small (perhaps *very* small) chance they might succeed.
Separately the USA have signed up a 5 billion dollar 'aid' deal with the Pakistani government in good part designed to ensure the above does not happen.
Pakistan has nuclear weapons.
What do you think will happen if the Taliban win?

I don't think attacking Pakistan is going to do them any favours. I reckon they'll be told to fuck off.

For the Taliban to suceed in Pakistan, they would have to suborn and dominate the Army there. Corrupt it may be, with its own pockets of fundamentalists, but its probably has sufficient of its own pride and power-hunger to resist, possibly in a very bloody way indeed...

Re: If the Taliban gained control of Pakistan...
Let's say for a moment that Pakistan is about to fall to the Taliban. There is just a slight possibility that the US has already considered this and has options in place. (Primary claimer: I have not authorized the US Government to hold my views.) It would make sense to have people in place to make sure that said weapons were either destroyed or moved to a "more secure location."
Just sayin'.

I have had similar thoughts. The USA must by now know where the nukes are kept and have plans to eliminate them if they are remotely at risk of falling into the hands of the Taliban.Gawdzilla wrote:Let's say for a moment that Pakistan is about to fall to the Taliban. I'm sure God has.
He'll never let it happen, we must have faith in him, so lets sit back and not do anything or worry about it.

Re: If the Taliban gained control of Pakistan...
Im moving to the space station if the Taliban gain control. Or building an underwater fortress.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
