Colfer's 'And Another Thing' (Part 6 of 3)

Post by owtth » Mon Oct 12, 2009 7:10 pm

Completely OT I know but DP do you think the new Colfer book to be a good thing or what?
(for future generations, DP's avatar at the mo is a cover for the new Hithchiker's book)
At least I'm housebroken.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Is it available in the US yet? I might have to swing by a book store on the way home from work tomorrow.
Who needs a signature anyway?

Finished it, go out, buy it, read it, drink tea.

Don't expect it to be a Douglas Adams book, a lot of the humour is there, a lot of it works, but some of it is trying too hard.

The only major gripe is a serious over-reliance on using guide entries within the text. The editor should have been a little heavier handed with her red pen on those.

It's cack. Tries too hard as DP says, and I just gave up on it.

So, if anyone wants a FREE hardback copy so they can try it, here's a competitiony thing.

All you need to do is tell me which Douglas Adams character I'm thinking of ...
