hmmm ... interesting ... it's probably very similar here in Australia ...Rumertron wrote:Politics in this country is now essentially about how to manage the cake and how to slice it up. The nature of the cake and what it is made of isn't up for grabs any more. Capitalism is now a hegemony and as with hegemonies, we are even beginning to lose the language to be critical. Just the mention of Marxism these days has people cringing for example.
It don't really matter who gets in. They are simply managers.

No, he isn't actually evil.... but he's just a bag of bullshit policies. He'll say and do anything to get in, he's a knob who must thing we were all born yesterday (unfortunately many of us were). You could probably predict what his next utterance will be based on what current public opinion is concerned about most.Devogue wrote:I don't think he's as (genuinely) evil as Blair.Pappa wrote:I think he's a twat with no substance at all. The trouble is they will all say whatever the fuck they want to to get in. To be fair it matters jack shit to me because I have to put up with a bunch of murderers and creationists telling me what to do in my part of the world anyway, but to listen to George Osbourne saying "we're all in this together" was pretty fucking gut-wrenching. The trouble is, I hate Labour just as much as I hate the Tories - a bunch of truly useless, talentless cunts who haven't a clue about anything.Pappa wrote:No, he isn't actually evil.... but he's just a bag of bullshit policies. All in all, it's very depressing.

Re: David Cameron
Camoron or Brown? Hmmm, let me see.
FFS! This is not a case of voting for the lesser of the 2 evils. There are other option. (And I don't mean Nick Clegg)
When Labour came to power, I thought things could only get better. We went from the frying pan into the fire.
It's time for something completely different.
BTW, just remember that Thatcher saved us from Kinnock.

Re: David Cameron
As someone who works in the bit of the system that receives the 'instructions' when new policy comes from central government, puts them into planning processes and then fires them off with funding and the local version of the national policy (if that makes sense) it is worth mentioning that in Education (which is my area), as well as Health and anti-poverty legislation, they have thrown huge amounts of money at the issues. Much more my by a large factor than any previous government. I would say that on the whole eduction is better as a result, but the thing is it should, given the spending be a HUGE amount better and it is not it is only slightly better.Deep Sea Isopod wrote:Camoron or Brown? It is hard to unravel what influences people's views of course - but the massive negativity towards the government is not actually justified in overall terms of the goals they have reached, many of which they made progress with. In fairness one can't even lay the recession at their feet alone. However they remain hugely unpopular and I am sure that must puzzle them at times.

I have never blamed them for the recession. I have blamed the utility and oil companies.
My vote lay with UKIP, but I would much rather vote BNP than vote for Lib-Lab-Con. And we all know what the BNP are.
I'm not anti-immigration. I want Managed immigration.
I want free trade with Europe and the rest of the world. Not just buy stuff from the EU and whomever else the Germans/French/ Spanish/ Latvians say we can trade with, and throw away our own produce.
I want UK industry to be a world leader. Not an extinct dinosaur as it is now.
Don't start me off on fishing quota's!!!
North Sea oil?! Is it true we have to sell it to the EU then buy it back at an inflated price, or is that just Daily Mail propaganda?
EU membership fees? It's like paying an annual membership to the Gym then only going on bank holidays.
And don't start me off on the Armed forces.

Re: David Cameron
Camoron is a twat, a fuck pig, a shithouse, nothing more than a posh bastard. No surprise I suppose as he is a Tory.
“I wish no harm to any human being, but I, as one man, am going to exercise my freedom of speech. No human being on the face of the earth, no government is going to take from me my right to speak, my right to protest against wrong, my right to do everything that is for the benefit of mankind. I am not here, then, as the accused; I am here as the accuser of capitalism dripping with blood from head to foot.”
