I distrust this man. I don't know why, I just have a natural gut feeling that his whole image is merely a pretence to aid the rich and the already affluent. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent speaker. His rhetoric is great too, but that's exactly why I do dislike him. I feel as though he's only trying to look after his own kind and by promising things such as an end to unlimited immigration and other such things he's appealing to much larger amount of stupid common voters.

I fear he and his party are going to take this entire country for a ride. I live in a place where Margaret Thatcher was born, and this town is a true reflection of real Tory policy and rule. For this reason I don't hope to see a Conservative government.

Anyone else feel the same?

Politics in this country is now essentially about how to manage the cake and how to slice it up. The nature of the cake and what it is made of isn't up for grabs any more. Capitalism is now a hegemony and as with hegemonies, we are even beginning to lose the language to be critical. Just the mention of Marxism these days has people cringing for example.

Very true, hence my feeling Cameron is just alright - what more can we expect from our current political class.

It would be much more exciting if Boris was in his shoes - he's nowhere near as naive as he lets on, and he's ruthless as well (look how he got rid of Ian Blair) but at least he calls a spade a spade and he has a unique charisma. But we all know that people on the eccentric spectrum are never going to get the really big jobs.

I agree with that sentiment. I was watching Question Time last night, and I wondered how embarrassed I would be if a member of the audience was to ask something about whether capitalism was still relevant. But then I really did cringe because as the host began to read out the names of political participants for next week someone cheered. He had mentioned Nick Griffin.
