I've just spent the last 12 hours on that game. What a waste of a day. Still. I'm moving up the ranks and starting to get some real snazzy weapons and perks now.

Umm... although I've not played it in a while, I've had the game for well over a year and my online time is something like several weeks. Not meaning weeks have passed while playing online. Meaning the amount of time playing online accumulates to several weeks. It's fucking good though.

It goes up to 55, then you have the choice of entering Prestige mode. It makes you start back at rank 1, wipes our challenges and all the weapons you've unlocked. Evrything goes back to day one, but you have a cool avatar/logo thing so people know you are badass. If you were to reach 55 again and prestige again, you get another logo so people know what prestige you are on. I'm not sure but I think I've done the process about 6 or 7 times.

So that's why on the intel while waiting for game to load it says "When you finish the game you get Prestige Mode. Then you have to make a hard decision."

the icon beside your name as far as i'm aware. I think you can get golden guns on your first prestige but there's no point trying until you've finished the cycle, too much effort when you know you'll reset the cycle.

Got myself confused I think.
Anyway, yeah during the first 55 ranks the icon changes as you work your way up. But when you prestige, you just have one special icon for the next 55 ranks, showing what level of prestige you are at. There are ten, the last one being a gold cross.

Elessaria has played COD4 before on XBOX Live, and she's on my friends list. But I don't think she's very active. Well, she has 164 kills. I'm about to hit 40,000.

The game would be ruined if it didn't have prestige. Once you've played long enough, you get good enough that every game is pretty easy, especially with great guns and perks. And if you're always winning, it gets boring quickly. But I've played this for years now because the prestige gives you the challenge of getting all your perks etc back. It's also fun being given the crap weapons only and not even being able to use custom perks etc at the very start. Keeps things interesting.
