On the hero, I wonder what would have happened if he shot the guy he disarmed. Presumably he could be up on murder charges. But shooting him might have saved lives. I probably would have shot him in the leg.

Tackling someone is one thing (a very brave thing), but gunning someone down in that situation is something that few would bring themselves to do...

I've been thinking about this. The neo-Nazis clearly hate Jews, but they also hate the left, pro-Palestinians and muslims in general. I suspect that, rather than getting in a conundrum, they would take a vicious pleasure in delighting in their 2 enemies attacking each other...

Of course, Netanyahu has attacked the Oz government for "enabling anti-semitism" by pushing for a Palestinian state. For him, and the Zionists in general, any political opposition to the actions of the current Israeli government is anti-semitic...

Yeah, but by the rhetoric of the likes of Netanyahu all pro-Palestinian sentiment is indistinguishable from the kind of violent extremism Australia just experienced.

We're also seeing a lot of righteous outrage, and some straight-out islamophobic racism, around this. And in that, condemnation from the left and pro-Palestinians isn't just being downplayed but framed as insincere or as manipulative lies. Like with the murder of Charlie Kirk, only one 'side' is seemingly allowed to be appalled by this horrendous event.

It would be really helpful generally, not to mention at a time like this, if everyone in the media and politics publicly challenged the hateful rhetoric of the far-right, zionists, and islamic extremists etc - and to reiterate that challenging that rhetoric isn't a hateful attack on conservatives, Jews or Muslims themselves.

I don't know. At that point you would be jacked up on adrenalin, and as you know, pulling a trigger and unleashing that power is scarily easy to do.
