I think it's fictional. Either that or Vance hasn't been paying attention and is less of a player than it seems. The 'Diet Coke button' was a known thing during Trump's first term. It was reported that he would have it again in his second term. If I knew about it, I doubt that Vance didn't know about it. Not entirely discounting that he's more of a dolt than I thought.

He thinks it's inspiring that Trump jokes about using nuclear weapons, which is a tell of its own.

If we imagine anti-government sentiments on a spectrum, then on one side there might be annoyance at having to identify yourself at a traffic stop, and at the other terror at the prospect of being “arrested” by unidentified masked men. Today we have a lot of people who were losing their minds about things at the lower end who’ve gone completely silent in the face of what they supposedly feared most.

The second amendment is only to protect against a tyrannical left wing government. Tyrannical right wing governments are fine.

The Proud Boys are back — and now they want to help ICE deport immigrants

Well, it didn’t take long. The white supremacist Proud Boys have officially declared their return, thanks to Donald Trump’s mass pardons on January 20. And with his second term now in full swing, they’re not just celebrating — they’re actively looking to get involved, including in immigration enforcement.

According to the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE), the Proud Boys are already positioning themselves as potential enforcers for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Tracking their activity on Telegram, GPAHE has reported that Proud Boys PDX fantasizes about being “deputized as ICE under Trump’s second term” to aid in mass deportations.

It doesn’t stop there. Proud Boys in Upstate New York are ecstatic about rumors circulating on their platforms, suggesting that ICE is allegedly offering “$750 per illegal immigrant” reported through its tip form. They’ve boasted about having a “network set up” ready to deliver information. Meanwhile, in Northern Nevada, the group shared an ominous image depicting a swastika rising like a sun with the caption, “A new day is about to dawn in America … it’s going to be glorious.”

What could go wrong?

Ice also arrested two Iranian LSU students in Baton Rouge at their off-campus apartment earlier this week. Last week, Ice announced that they arrested 84 people during a raid at a south-west Louisiana racetrack. Of the 84, Ice said “at least two” had criminal records.

Statistics from early June, previously reported on by the Guardian, demonstrated an 807% increase in arrests of people without criminal histories since before Donald Trump’s second inauguration this January. Data suggests Ice is holding about 59,000 detainees in facilities across the country.

Not quite unlimited, but definitely the prerogative to be choosy about which laws the president abides by. The office of the president is inching towards the divine right of kings, but the SC decision also extends the same legal laxity to his successor.
