One big reason we must stop Trump is he won't be able to stop himself:
"He's also only doing what he's done before, destroying business after business in the 34 years since his first bankruptcy. There's no reason to expect he's capable of doing much differently."

To all the people saying “ any woman can get a copy of her birth cert, no problem!” My birth state requires you to get your cert in person to avoid identity theft. That state is 1,200 miles from where I live now. I need a flight and a hotel to get my birth cert. It’s a poll tax friends.

Trump knows casinos, golf, property and lawyers. Now he is cutting off legal aid to kids.

Tens of thousands of unaccompanied children who are in the U.S. illegally stand to lose legal help for their immigration hearings — and face being deported — because of a little-known Trump budget cut
The $367 million cut takes aim at the legal defense fund designed to help children and teens who've fled violence, lost their parents, or are victims of trafficking.
The stakes: Without lawyers it's extremely difficult…

If you don't want to watch the Maher vid retweeted by Musk there, he summarizes at the end with saying Trump was gracious and measured. He also said that he wasn't high. (doubt that last bit, Maher)

He might be alright, but I’ve avoided him since I saw him ask an average Joe religious person if he believed in heaven why he didn’t kill himself—irked the hell out of me. —smug loudmouth.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

I enjoyed some of his humour, but noticed that he lost his ability to be funny when the subject of Trump came up. Though that could have been an act, too.

He's not funny because he's so ideological. Maybe the same thing happened to John Stewart.

Everyone's obsessing over our trade deficit with China ($316B in 2024). Wrong deficit. The REAL gap? Education, Infrastructure, and R&D investment. This is the deficit that's actually f*cking us.
While we debate CRT and book bans, China graduates 8X more STEM PhDs annually than we do. In 2025, they'll add 1.3M engineering grads to their workforce. Us? About 200K. This isn't a gap—it's the Grand Canyon of competitive disadvantage. We went in debt for McMansions and SUVs larger than WWII Tanks.

And to address this canyon Trump has just withdrawn funding for US higher education along with the visas of hundreds of students and researchers.

Re: All Things Trump: The Return Of The King
That sounds crazy, but what's being suggested here, that we match China in absolute terms, that some 3% of the US workforce should be engineers today, and some truly absurd number later?

Re: All Things Trump: The Return Of The King
Nah, just recognise that US universities have very much contributed to what's made America great.
My theory is that low competence politicians are intimidated and feel threatened by high competence graduates, academics, and researchers who might have different ideas to them - so of course they have to become culture war canon fodder. The problem with America is clearly that it's producing too many degrees and doctorates - which are woke, and also probably gay.
