Trump beats Trump

In a CNN poll out today, 47% approve of Trump, 52% disapprove, and only 1% have no opinion. Trump’s approval rating is below the start-of-term rating for any recent president, except for Trump in his first term.
Democrats don’t have many ways to thwart the president, so maybe what will benefit congressional Democrats most right now is patience. The administration’s willy-nilly approach to governing could be its undoing.
CNN

"Trouble is that immense damage will already have been done to seriously hurt the country and the world for a long time to come."

Road blocks removed. The military can now be used to terrorize citizens.

Also, if Trump is impeached, massive force will arrest every senator.

A formal federal prosecutor fired by President Donald Trump on Sunday delivered a blunt warning about what is happening to the rule of law in the United States.
While speaking with CBS News' "60 Minutes," attorney Sara Levine bluntly said that "the Justice Department is under attack" by the new administration.

"They're coming after the people that want to uphold the laws that exist," she told the program. "And that should be terrifying to everyone."
Levine, who was one of the attorneys who helped prosecute Trump supporters who violently stormed the United States Capitol building on January 6, 2021, told "60 Minutes" that she was fired simply for doing her job.

"I followed the facts," she said. "I followed the law. And I got fired because I did exactly what I was supposed to do."

Why there’s an upside-down American flag hanging in Yosemite National Park
By Amanda Jackson and Sharif Paget, CNN

CNN

February is one of the busiest times of the year at Yosemite National Park thanks to “firefall,” a natural phenomenon that causes a glowing ribbon of water to look like molten lava cascading down El Capitan’s Horsetail Fall.

Travelers come from around the world to witness the event at the granite monolith, famed for its nearly vertical walls, some booking entry tickets and reserving parking spots a year in advance.

But this year’s visitors witnessed more than firefall on February 22. They also saw an upside-down American flag, which Yosemite employees reportedly hung over the side of El Capitan to protest the recent downsizing that took place as part of the Trump administration’s cost-cutting initiatives.

Traditionally, hanging the American flag upside down symbolizes a distress call.

Gavin Carpenter, a maintenance mechanic with Yosemite, spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle on Saturday and said he supplied the flag and helped hang it.

“We’re bringing attention to what’s happening to the parks, which are every American’s properties. It’s super important we take care of them, and we’re losing people here, and it’s not sustainable if we want to keep the parks open.”

Musk finds deep state! Kash Patel and other Trump cabinet secretaries already in charge of it. But it was under their noses.
WASHINGTON — Elon Musk’s team at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency has posted classified information about the size and staff of a U.S. intelligence agency on its new website, raising bigger concerns about where Musk’s programmers got this information and what they are doing with it.

DOGE, which President Donald Trump created to purportedly root out waste in the federal government, launched its website on Wednesday night with a feature allowing users to “trace your tax dollars through the bureaucracy.” People can navigate through all federal agencies and offices for details about their head counts, budgets and average ages of employees.

But an easy search shows that DOGE’s database provides details on the National Reconnaissance Office, the federal agency that designs, builds and maintains U.S. intelligence satellites. Not only are NRO’s budgets and head counts classified, but the prospect of Musk’s tech team meddling in sensitive personnel information is setting off alarms for some in the intelligence community.

NOFORN stands for “Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals,” meaning information in this category can’t be shared with any foreign governments, international organizations or foreign nationals without specific authorization.

NRO appears to be the only intelligence agency with its data publicly available on DOGE’s website. The U.S. intelligence community is composed of 18 organizations, and HuffPost searched DOGE’s website for details on all of them. None of the others had any data.

Musk can’t claim he wasn’t aware that the National Reconnaissance Office is one of the nation’s intelligence agencies. His company, SpaceX, has a $1.8 billion contract with NRO to build hundreds of spy satellites.

And the real concern is that Musk’s surrogates are bumbling around in classified programs. “These 25-year-old programmers, I don’t think they have enough experience to know what they don’t know,” said this aide. “Really, the question is: Where did they get this information and what are they doing with it?”

A spokesperson for the National Reconnaissance Office punted questions about this back to DOGE.

“We defer to the Department of Government Efficiency for comment on the release of information posted on DOGE.gov,” said the spokesperson.

Invisible henchman in Trump Musk Patel acts:
"The Christian nationalist legal scholar behind Trump's purges."
"There are a lot of main characters in the second Trump administration. Donald Trump himself, of course, but also Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and JD Vance.

"Russell Vought does not make that list. The soft-spoken bureaucrat was recently confirmed to lead the Office of Management and Budget, not exactly a sexy post. His name isn’t well-known outside of policy circles.

"But it probably should be."

"Vought has something of a blue-collar background. He had a a big family, and is the youngest of seven children. He’s talked about having a very strong Christian upbringing. He went to college at an evangelical Christian school. All of this matters because part of the way that he views his role in government is not just trying to change the way the presidency operates, but also trying to infuse it with Christian nationalism, his kind of self-defined ideology."

"The way that he describes it is that he wants to basically bring Christianity into all aspects of society, especially government. It’s not that he wants to do away with the separation between church and state, but he believes that Christianity is a formative foundational influence in the way that the American government operates, and that has been muffled for too long."

"There wasn’t an incredibly deep bench of MAGA-aligned people back in 2017. And so he was appointed to the OMB; he was a deputy director. Eventually, in the final year, he became director of OMB. I think the thing for Vought is that he sees Trump as a vehicle for pushing forward his ideas. So he talks about the fact that all of these anti-abortion politicians in the Republican Party failed to do anything, but it was Trump who ultimately was the one who, through his Supreme Court appointments, was able to kill Roe v. Wade. Vought sees Trump as a critical ally, even if he doesn’t agree with him on a day-to-day basis or on many issues."

"In his last year, when he was running the Office of Management and Budget, Vought was the one who wrote a memo saying that the federal government should stop all DEI training and critical race theory. That obviously became a very powerful trope for Trump in his more recent election campaign."

"And one way in which Vought was very much involved in thinking through Trump 2.0, is that he was one of the driving forces behind Project 2025."

"He’s certainly no dummy. He’s anticipated that attempts to reshape the presidency will end up in the courts and probably ultimately will end up at the Supreme Court. I think he isn’t afraid that the courts are going to block his agenda. I think rather, he wants the courts to be the jurisdiction that determines whether his interpretation of the law is the correct one."

Kash patel help build white supremacist militias
Neo-Nazi group plots rebuild as Trump’s FBI chief takes helm, audio reveals
Exclusive: Terrorist group the Base appears defiant as new administration aims to deprioritize threat from far right

An international neo-Nazi terrorist group with origins in the US appears to be quickly rebuilding its global and stateside ranks, according to information obtained by the Guardian from its digital accounts.

Founded in 2018, the Base has been the intense focus of a years-long FBI counter-terrorism investigation that has resulted in more than a dozen of its members arrested. It has plotted an assassination, mass shootings and other actions in Europe, which made it a proscribed terrorist organization in several countries.

By 2022, it seemed to disappear. Yet its founder and leader, Rinaldo Nazzaro, a former US special forces contractor residing in Russia, used the safety of Russian apps before the November election to recruit and reorganize during a tense political moment. At one point, he even solicited ex-American soldiers with an offer of $1,200 a month to put members through paramilitary training somewhere in the Pacific north-west.

The Base’s regrouping comes at a time when the Trump administration has made it a policy goal to move away from policing far-right extremism and during the appointment of Kash Patel – a Maga acolyte who lauds January 6 attackers and has peddled Qanon conspiracy theories – to helm the FBI. Experts say federal law enforcement ignoring far-right groups such as the Base could expose Americans to increased domestic terror threats.

Nazzaro’s efforts, so far, appear to be paying off: the Guardian was tipped to an audio message released in mid-February from an assumed new leader of the Base with an American accent, discussing the ambitious future of the group.

After criticizing other neo-Nazi organizations such as Blood Tribe for publicly protesting against drag-queen story hours in the midwest, the voice preached covert action and quiet preparations for armed cells throughout the US rather than flashy activism.

“Are we just going to be reactionary? Or are we going to be part of the solution? The military solution,” they said. “Because inevitably we’re going to end up in some sort of military situation, what are the choices?”

The voice then describes a “black scenario” where the US government soon collapses and there’s a need to “provide for your family” and for “white women”.

“There is no political solution, only a military solution,” they can be heard saying under heavy voice modulation. “So act accordingly.”

A flurry of new images on the Base’s various social media accounts, some closed and some open, show members claiming to be in the US and across Europe brandishing pistols or military-style rifles and donning the trademark skull mask of the accelerationist neo-Nazi movement – one that demands acts of terrorism to bring down world governments.

In one photo, a member is holding a knife and what appears to be a pistol in front of the Base flag in the United Kingdom, while others feature members in Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium and Sweden. Last week, on the Base’s VKontakte account, it released a video showing a masked man purportedly in Bulgaria firing a pistol three times into the air with the group’s signature black flag beside him.

Real arrests show the multimedia posts aren’t a case of digital bluffing. In recent months, authorities in the Netherlands and Italy have carried out multiple arrests of suspected members on terrorism-related charges.

“The extreme rightwing terrorist organization the Base was proscribed in the UK since July 2021,” said a spokesperson for the Home Office, the department overseeing British security agencies, adding that being a member of the Base “carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison”.

Steven Rai, an analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), has also noticed the Base’s increased activities online.

“The Base has released a slow but steady trickle of propaganda over the past several months that has mostly highlighted their presence in Europe, so this shift in focus towards the US should raise alarms,” said Rai.
