"According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE! Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security," Musk wrote on X.

The table shows that the social security database still formally lists two people aged 240-369 as living, nearly 3,000 people aged 200-229, and about 8.9 million people aged 120-199.
Next step is to look into if any methuselahs are collecting benefits. Or if illegal aliens are using those old credentials to work. Even if these old accounts aren't being used, it shows they need a better system to keep the data more 'live' :{D
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

You did not read the explanation? They are Cobol dates.
Nope. There are no 150-year-olds on Social Security. It's COBOL!--UPDATED Feb 15
A bit of history. On May 20, 1875 a bunch of countries got together to create the International Bureau of Weight and Measures which established uniform standards of mass and length. Later on, the Bureau established rules for dates as well. The dates standard used a starting date of May 20 1875 to honor the creation of the Bureau.

Old versions of COBOL use that date as a baseline. Social Security’s computers use that old version. Dates are stored as the number of days AFTER May 20 1875.

So what happens if Social Security doesn’t know a birthdate? That field is empty in its records. Thus that person appears to have a birthday of May 20 1875—about 150 years ago.

Yeah, it’s absurd that our government is being tampered with by people learning as they go. Everyone with experience knows learning a new system means making mistakes, probably especially if you’re looking for problems. They believe there is mass fraud, and they’re finding it.

Donald Trump’s administration has asked the supreme court to approve the firing of the head of a federal agency dedicated to protecting whistleblowers in the first appeal of Trump’s new term and a key test of his battle with the judicial branch.

Hampton Dellinger, the head of the office of the special counsel (OSC), is among the fired government watchdogs who have sued the Trump administration, arguing that their dismissals were illegal and that they should be reinstated.

25-Year-Old Elon Musk Crony Has Total Control Over Treasury Payments
One of Elon Musk’s handpicked operatives for his fake “Department of Government Efficiency” has been given complete access to critical payment systems at the Department of the Treasury, despite being only 25 years old.

Marko Elez, whose total work experience consists of working for Musk’s companies SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter), has administrator privileges on systems that are responsible for 95 percent of payments made by the U.S. government including Social Security checks, tax refunds, and virtually all contract payments, Wired reports. This contradicts earlier reports that Musk’s henchmen only had “read-only” access to Treasury data.

Wired, citing two unnamed sources, reports that Elez has the ability to write code on the Payment Automation Manager and Secure Payment System at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which control government payments that amount to more than a fifth of the U.S. economy. Elez’s level of access could allow him to bypass security measures and possibly cause irreversible damage to these systems. Talking Points Memo further reports that Elez has already used his power to significantly rewrite code for the payment systems...
The story in WIRED: https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-a ... nt-system/
...“You could do anything with these privileges,” says one source with knowledge of the system, who adds that they cannot conceive of a reason that anyone would need them for purposes of simply hunting down fraudulent payments or analyzing disbursement flow.

"Technically I don't see why this couldn't happen," a federal IT worker tells WIRED in a phone call late on Monday night, referring to the possibility of a DOGE employee being granted elevated access to a government server. "If you would have asked me a week ago, I'd have told you that this kind of thing would never in a million years happen. But now, who the fuck knows."...
I hope he did a complete system backup before he started tinkering.

The Court Document reads as follows:
The United States Constitution grants the power of the purse to Congress through its authority to levy taxes, coin money, and allocate federal expenditures. This is primarily established in Article I, Section 8, which outlines the powers of Congress, and Article I, Section 9, which specifies that no money can be drawn from the Treasury except as a result of appropriations made by law.

Of course the Trumpists have already taken Andrew Jackson as their model. The courts may rule against them but the courts have no way to effect enforcement of the rulings. Trump controls the Department of Justice through a puppet Attorney General so don't expect any action there. The House of Representatives has proper authority over spending as detailed in the filing, but the Trumpists control the House and they've made it clear that they're happy to let Dear Leader have his way.

"As of April 2024, the five countries owning the most US debt are Japan ($1.1 trillion), China ($749.0 billion), the United Kingdom ($690.2 billion), Luxembourg ($373.5 billion), and Canada ($328.7 billion)." Someone should let Trump know, so that he can declare war on Luxembourg, make them the 51st state, and cancel the debt. Simples.

Those 'efficiency' savings are going straight to the billionaires.

We need to keep our billionaire quota. Otherwise they will take their pail and shovel and go to another sand box.
