This wouldn't happen in Merka, but today someone was arrested for flying a Hezbollah flag. I'm unsure where I sit on this one. Freedom of speech VS "hate" speech. It's also not clear regarding the law. Will be for a judge to determine.

Well, it's easy to argue that terror groups are hate groups by default, aand that waving a flag is endorsing, promoting or glorifying a terrorist or hate group -- Oz delcared Hizballah's External Security Organisation a terror group in 2003. Ultimately it'll probably come down to what the government wants to happen.

A woman was driving along the Monash Freeway on Saturday morning when she felt a snake slithering up her leg.
She weaved through traffic, pulled over to the side of the freeway, and leapt out of her car to safety.
The shaken driver was taken to the hospital for observation, and the snake was released "well away from houses, people and pets".

Australian Jewish community leaders say "no-one should be surprised" following the arson attack on a Melbourne synagogue on Friday morning, and urged politicians to do more to address anti-Semitism they called a "stain on [the] nation".

Fire crews were called to the Adass Israel Synagogue at Ripponlea in Melbourne's south-east shortly after 4am and found a large fire burning through the building.

Early-morning worshippers inside the synagogue reported seeing two masked men throw fuel inside the premises, before setting it alight.

This is very clearly an anti-semitic act, not a reasonable protest against the actions of the Israeli government. I suppose it could have come from the white supremacist/neo-Nazi movement, but is more likely to have come from the extreme wing of Palestinians in Oz...

Yeah, not good. It's deeply unhelpful for those advocating for the Palestinian cause to presume the current Israeli administration automatically has, and acts with, the full support of all Jewish people everywhere - even while Netanyahu et al claim exactly that. That said, quite a few Jewish communities fundraise for the settler movement, and there seems to be no shortage of Jewish community 'representatives' shilling for Israel in the media atm. In other words, these things don't happen in a vacuum.
