Want proof of how dumb asF and inflationary Trump tariffs (taxes) were on the American people his previous term? Harley Davidson had to shut down a plant in Kansas City and open one in Thailand in order to get their bikes into the EU!
And, Trump cost Senator Grassley’s farm so much losses, he had to cut him compensatory cheques TWICE.
(Grassley farms soybeans, they were not sold that year, China is a major customer)

Conservative columnist George Will
So, where does Will's conservatism stand in this age of Donald Trump?
“Tantrum as governance” may well be where the nation is next headed, and if so, it represents a vertiginous fall from the philosophy that George Will has brilliantly expounded for 50 years. But ideas do not depend on election returns, and for as long as people appreciate the written word, his work will endure."

The right wing media ecosystem will simply put the blame on Biden and the Democrats. That won't change the outcome of the next election. We need to fight back with a media ecosystem. Nothing less.
ME: The social media ecosystem failed to reach that 49% this time. They can't be reached. We need to wait....till they are dead. 20 years?

Grassley’s farm has definitely received various subsidies over the years completely unrelated to tariffs.Tero wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 11:39 amcyklops__performance

The question isn’t whether tariffs might disrupt things, but whether the attempts to stop those disruptions are serving the interest you think they are. Staying on farming, as a lefty, you might ask if attempts to soften the blow of tariffs really only strengthen the trend toward larger, less environmentally responsible farming.
Harley Davidson is still in serious trouble, so expect them to be looking for a bogeyman to blame again.

Anyway, if companies leaving mean the tariffs are bad would more manufacturing jobs mean they were good? —probably not!
Again, how’s the average voter supposed to figure this out?
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

The average voter thinks the tariff is some leverage. If they thik "China" pays it...well, there is a problem there. If we start making "everything" here again, then there is no tariff to collect. No tariff money to bring in income to sponsor the state.
The average voter needs to leave this to corporations so they can get the Nikes from the mall.

That makes sense, and by the same token they can fight their own battles. Voters should feel no obligation, especially from a position of ignorance, to feel any kind of way on behalf of corporations.

Has Kim Kardashian gone MAGA? She parties with Ivanka Trump and has turned Tesla products into fashion accessories on social media, but assuming these are political statements may be incorrect.

Once the tariffs make purchasing things beyond the reach of the average American, they'll stop being consumers and thus don't need protecting! Stable Genius + Galaxy Brain = Whining Combination! I mean Winning.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
https://www.propublica.org/article/trum ... ess-budget“We can simply choke off the money,” Trump said in a 2023 campaign video. “For 200 years under our system of government, it was undisputed that the president had the constitutional power to stop unnecessary spending.”
His plan, known as “impoundment,” threatens to provoke a major clash over the limits of the president’s control over the budget. The Constitution gives Congress the sole authority to appropriate the federal budget, while the role of the executive branch is to dole out the money effectively. But Trump and his advisers are asserting that a president can unilaterally ignore Congress’ spending decisions and “impound” funds if he opposes them or deems them wasteful.
Trump’s designs on the budget are part of his administration’s larger plan to consolidate as much power in the executive branch as possible. This month, he pressured the Senate to go into recess so he could appoint his cabinet without any oversight. (So far, Republicans who control the chamber have not agreed to do so.) His key advisers have spelled out plans to bring independent agencies, such as the Department of Justice, under political control.

Mexican leader is some kind of socialist!
https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump- ... migration/"I explained to him the comprehensive strategy that Mexico has followed to address the migration phenomenon, respecting human rights. Thanks to this, migrants and caravans are assisted before they reach the border," the Mexican leader wrote. "We reiterate that Mexico's position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples."
