Sure, checkout prices never come down, but when wages don't keep up with prices everything becomes relatively more expensive and ordinary people buy less stuff, relatively increasing businesses costs, which puts additional pressure on pricing to maintain day-to-day operations and profits. Cutting business taxes reduces those pressures a bit, but if wages don't grow then people still can't buy stuff - because checkout prices never come down.

Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.
Details on how to do that can be found here.

The Trump voter barely noticed if his wages went up. He only looks at the price of eggs and gas.

I have not got much support for my idea, but here goes. In this Internet age, we have completely lost patience. Many voters grew up with internet in most of their life. The result will be that we will have a string of presidents seving ONE TERM. Not two consecutive terms.

Someone give me an example in history when prices rose, inflation went back to normal, and prices returned to the old prices. I won’t hold my breath.

Reply:
For the prices to go back to normal requires deflation. Deflation is extremely bad for the economy (ask japan).

If something was $10 and due to inflation rose to $12, zero inflation means it stays put at $12. To get back down to $10 requires 20% Deflation.

Deflation is a sign of one of two things:

Consumers have so little money, no one is buying at the original prices and the products are saturated in the market and manufacturers are desperate to move stock.

Elsewhere:
I have a neighbor that put up a sign “Everybody Sucks 2024”. We don’t normally do political signs in our neighborhood. I don’t know whether she voted, or if so for whom.
It was precisely that pervasive belief that “everyone sucks” (and sucks equally and indistinguishably) that gave trump his opening in 2016.

Seems many Americans are very slow learners

The Democrats bending over backwards to show that they will partake in a peaceful transition of power. And calling him and congratulating him. And inviting him to the White House. Hang on, the bloke is a wannabe fascist. They should want nothing to do with him. Arguably this is what the second amendment is about..

This is the most intelligent analysis I've read so far. We don't need the violence, but it hardly makes sense for democrats to gaslight us the way Trump does. I don't want to be in on the joke. You're not clever. He's not going to follow your lead next time.

Heartbroken Democrat volunteers on the radio have just been saying they've been taken completely by surprise by the Trump victory - "This wasn't supposed to happen!" - and blaming the media! Guys - c'mon.

Always blame the voters. We have to have stupid people to have democracy. Then they do stupid things. What did we expect?
