There's apparent concerns about his mental acuity, but that's not being compared to Trump's mental, psychological, or moral competences - let alone their political ideas. The fact that Joe's brain is a standalone story shows that it's not part of any wider debate over the capacity and competency of presidential candidates (which after all is what we're being told we need to be concerned about), but that it's part of a coordinated marketing campaign focused on setting the ongoing terms of political reference, and influencing waverers and undecideds - as well as those without skin in the game looking in from the outside.

But I wonder how many people are fearful of the Trump Media Train's marketing strategy actually winning out in November? Fear can be a powerful motivation to action.

I think the unspoken word from much of the media is that the Democrats must win. That's why there is so much attention on Biden's failing brain.

For me, 70-30 for a Trump win. Perhaps I am too much a pessimist...

Odds? It can only be about 50/50 as Trump can only win as he did in 2016, barely.

Meanwhille:
We are stil taking about all voters. The Trump and Biden base is not moving, other than all of Biden voters (now) will vote Kamala. She has the black vote, but only thru Joe. She has some work to do, as the low information voter is still looking for the alpha male.
As for Americans more broadly, they are more skeptical of how Harris would perform in the Oval Office. Only about 3 in 10 U.S. adults overall say Harris would do well as president. About half say Harris would not do a good job in the role, and 2 in 10 say they don’t know enough to say.

Harris’ favorability rating is similar to Biden’s, but the share of Americans who have an unfavorable opinion of her is somewhat lower. The poll showed that about 4 in 10 U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of Harris, while about half have an unfavorable opinion. There are more Americans with a negative view of Biden: approximately 6 in 10. About 1 in 10 Americans say they don’t know enough to have an opinion of Harris, whereas nearly everyone has an opinion on Biden.
About three-quarters of Democrats have a positive view of Harris, which is in line with how Democrats view Biden. Seven in 10 have a favorable view of him.

Women vs two male fascists poll not quite as good as Harris and Shapiro
According to pollster Sarah Longwell, Harris could be in with a good chance of winning the election if she runs against Trump and Vance because Vance makes it easier to paint the Trump ticket as culturally extreme and pro-insurrection.

"He's got mini-fascist all over him," she told New Republic, citing his views on abortion which she says wreck his approval ratings with swing voters.

In contrast to Trump, Vance has opposed abortion rights, apparently even in the case of incest or rape, only making an exception for when the mother's life is in danger.

"It's not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term," he told an Ohio news outlet in 2021. "It's whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child's birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society."

Obsession with manufacturing.
Democrats and Republicans appear to disagree on almost everything these days, but the importance of reviving manufacturing is to be a rare area of harmony, especially when it comes to America’s strategic rivalry with China. Unfortunately, this obsession with manufacturing is misplaced, and it is critical to the economic future of the United States to understand why.
First, for the high-income countries of the world, the share of manufacturing as a percent of gross domestic product (GDP) is currently approximately 13 percent. In the U.S., it is approximately 11 percent, very close to the average of high-income countries. So there is nothing unusual about the amount of manufacturing taking place in the United States.

Second, in high-income countries, the share of the labor force in manufacturing declines at least as fast as the GDP share. For the high-income countries, the share is approximately 13 percent. In the United States, it is approximately 8 percent. This reflects the increased labor productivity in American manufacturing. Since wages are tied to labor productivity, this is a positive trajectory.

Democrats are stuck with diversity

Obama years: Black president, DEI Hire Biden
Trump: white guys
Biden term: Biden plus DEI hire Harris
Harris term: Harris plus white guy

Well ain't this a fine Howdy Do? Man, rats leave sinking ships slower than the Dems have abandoned Joe. What a clusterfuck. I think we're about to see our second Orange Dawn. I need to bribe somebody to speed up our application for Swazi citizenship.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Only when you throw in Kennedy do the voters still get excited for voting for "someone else." Anyone with any name recognition would do.

There is an ordinate amount of interest here in the election, I'm constantly asked for a expert 'Murikan opinion but I don't know shit. It's certainly going to be interesting, in that ancient Chinese curse way.

Tell them that we have two candidates. One is a former alpha male. The other one has a uterus.
