Re: American Politics from 2019 on
This election started early with Trump rallies, because he loves rallies.
Biden rallies are getting some traction. It's actually good to see the contrast between the two men. In addition Project 25 is getting a lot of bad press for Trump.

Under the tax plan proposed in Project 2025, it's estimated that a family of 4 making $100,000/year would get a $2,600 tax hike. But a family of 4 making $5 million/year would get a $325,000 tax cut.
It's a trickle-down nightmare.

So much angst. Once Biden determined to run again rather than putting his campaigning energy toward ensuring the best result for his successor, this was always going to be the ride. It was never going to be pretty, and the nascent fascist regime looks to have a solid chance of taking charge. Too soon to wallow in despair I think, and it doesn't pay to give too much weight to the musings of political talking heads.

'After Biden's debate performance, the presidential race is unchanged'
The race for the presidency remains statistically tied despite President Biden’s dismal debate performance two weeks ago, a new national NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds.
Biden actually gained a point since last month’s survey, which was taken before the debate. In this poll, he leads Trump 50% to 48% in a head-to-head matchup. But Biden slips when third-party options are introduced, with Trump holding the slightest advantage with 43% to 42%.
Those numbers, though, do not represent statistically significant differences, as the margin of error in the survey is +/- 3.1 percentage points, meaning results could be 3 points higher or lower.
The poll also found that, at this point, no other mainstream Democrat who has been mentioned as a replacement for the president on the ticket does better than Biden.

Yeah, I’m sure you’re right, now is hardly the time to lose our shit. Especially given that Republicans definitely won’t accept defeat. —what a mess
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

A choice between a corporatist genocide enabler and a proto fascist monomaniac. What a mess indeed.

Biden has no need to quit. AOC says opponents should quit.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/art ... n-commentsOcasio-Cortez, 34, a leading US House progressive popularly known as AOC, responded with a stinging social media message.
“If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism.
“This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people. Retire.”
