Biden's weak voice seems to be sending democrat insiders panicing.

There will be discussion for a few days in the press about replacing Biden. This would be some deals made very soon and finalized at the convention. It could happen. But I think in about a week they will look at the funding coming in. The election is such a delicate situation that many steps will take place behind scenes.

Gavin Newsom will need to wait for weeks yet, even if he is propped up to be this back up candidate. I think the last candidate picked at a convention was Nixon.

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump refuses to debate him again. I think we can toss the 'he's jacked up on drugs' line out the window.

That was bad. Biden was terrible, and Trump just made baseless hyperbolic statements (which his supporters will lap up).

Some bad planning. Biden had a good chance of winning before this. Because so many hate Trump deeply. All those that vote by gut feel made up thrir mind tonight.

It was 4am here so I missed it. A lot of people are saying Trump gave the best performance of any candidate ever, while others were surprised to learn Biden is still old.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Trump was well behaved. Which was kind of a surprise.

Gas prices? Bread? Who knows. Polled people are grumbling, even stock owners.
The Guardian-Harris survey also found that 49% of respondents think the S&P 500 index is down for the year. In reality, stocks have been ripping: The S&P 500 is up 13% this year on top of a 24% gain last year.

Something seems off with the Guardian-Harris finding that half of Americans think the stock market is in decline. In a different survey, Gallup found that 62% of Americans own stocks, mostly through retirement and investing accounts. If that's true, wouldn't most or all of those people know their portfolios are gaining value?

The Guardian-Harris poll didn't specify how many respondents own stocks, but these two surveys seem to conflict. People know how much money they have, and stock market investors are either underrepresented in the Harris poll or overrepresented in Gallup's.

My son, who has a degree in political science, did not understand the anwers Biden gave, as he was getting lost in his words toward the end of the two minute slot. My son is drifting toward the low information voter end, but would have undertood Biden in the two minutes with his background. Biden failed, and he failed even more with the independent-low-information voter who have no college degreee in anything.

Low information voters tend not to watch debates.

A Finnish friend made a general comment about the debate. Biden made a huge mistake. He answered the questions. Trump did not.

Another friend (above was a guy) I have known for 20 years.

An on line friend is one of these low info voters. She understands as little of the topics as Trump does. Trump understands only enough of each issue as far as "what does this do to me?" She was convinced that his answers were sharper. So she understood the anwers, but not question. just like Trump. Biden is losing because he understood most of the questions (he misheard one) but no low info voter understood his answers.
