It's got 10 electors, but Trump wasn't going to get them anyway. 270 to win.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
That's a tough one. I think Trump can count on Thomas and Alito. The three he appointed could easily come along, but not necessarily. Kavanaugh has shown himself to be a follow the crowd type (as long as the crowd is 'conservative'), Gorsuch is an ideologue, as is Barrett. Roberts seems less likely to join such a clearly politically motivated decision, but if the five already listed vote in favor of Trump he can afford to stand on principle. Of course that's just a sketch, and could very well be incorrect.
Somebody who's studied this (14th Amendment) and associated questions weighs in. However, he's an expert on the topic and we've been reliably informed that experts are untrustworthy.

'Why 14th Amendment bars Trump from office: A constitutional law scholar explains principle behind Colorado Supreme Court ruling'
To me as a scholar of constitutional law, each sentence and sentence fragment (of Section 3, 14th Amendment) captures the commitment made by the nation in the wake of the Civil War to govern by constitutional politics. People seeking political and constitutional changes must play by the rules set out in the Constitution. In a democracy, people cannot substitute force, violence or intimidation for persuasion, coalition building and voting.
...
Significant numbers of Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate agreed that Donald Trump violated his oath of office immediately before, during and immediately after the events of Jan. 6, 2021. Most Republican senators who voted against his conviction did so on the grounds that they did not have the power to convict a president who was no longer in office. Most of them did not dispute that Trump participated in an insurrection. A judge in Colorado also found that Trump “engaged in insurrection,” which was the basis for the state’s Supreme Court ruling barring him from the ballot.
Constitutional democracy is rule by law. Those who have demonstrated their rejection of rule by law may not apply, no matter their popularity. Jefferson Davis participated in an insurrection against the United States in 1861. He was not eligible to become president of the U.S. four years later, or to hold any other state or federal office ever again. If Davis was barred from office, then the conclusion must be that Trump is too – as a man who participated in an insurrection against the United States in 2021.

Man, Trump is keeping the Supremes busy.
What's funny is that the MAGA branch of the Colorado GOP has been working overtime to ensure Trump gets the state's delegates, to the point of trying to ditch the primary in favor of caucuses. This is an open primary state, and they fear us dirty unafilliated voters will deny Diamond Don his rightful due.

I think even some of the goon squad realize that immunity could be wielded by a Democrat as well as a Republican.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
It may be important this time around. We have the spring months to follow. Trump is raising money, but not as much as Biden. And Trump funnels money to court case legal fees. Therefore the Colorado delegates will be needed, if this goes to a fight at the convnetion between Trump and Haley.Joe wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:44 amMan, Trump is keeping the Supremes busy.

Haley is saying that voters should decide. I seem to recall that was McConnell's line when Scalia died, until it wasn't.
Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
The Colorado GOP is threatening to pull out of the primary and have a caucus if Trump is barred from the primary.
Of course, they've been trying to get out of the primary and hold a caucus anyway, so that's nothing new.
The best way to steal an election for Trump is not to have one.

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is expected to rule Friday on whether former President Donald Trump’s name should appear on the Republican primary ballot in March.
Former Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling, a Democrat, and former state Sen. Kimberly Rosen, a Republican, are among those who are challenging whether Trump qualifies under the Constitution to run for office again.
That’s because they say Trump incited insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, during a speech to supporters before they attacked the U.S. Capitol to try to stop the Electoral College votes from being counted.

I guess a supermajority is always going to be 'unconstitutional' when the vote doesn't go your way.ibid wrote:“We all understand that this kind of proves the point of the lawsuit, that the state has imposed upon the Republican Party an unconstitutional threshold, and the numbers bear that out,” Williams told Republicans after announcing the results.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
States are the guardians of the presidential election. No federal role assigned.
https://www.cato.org/blog/agree-it-or-n ... h-judicialSecond, Colorado election law does not just allow people to challenge the Secretary’s breach of affirmative duties; it allows people to sue for any wrongful act. And it would certainly be wrongful for the Secretary to put an unqualified person on the ballot when the code explicitly states that all candidates must be qualified.
The Colorado Supreme Court next dispensed with the argument that taking Trump off of the ballot would violate the free association rights of the Republican Party. If that were true, the court said, it would mean any political party could override the Constitution by putting ineligible people on the ballot (i.e., people who are too young, not a natural born citizen, etc.) and states couldn’t do anything about it.
