On Dec. 1, in a unanimous per curiam decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit ruled to reverse an order issued by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to appoint a special master to oversee the review of classified documents seized from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-lago residence on Aug. 8.
The 11th Circuit found that Cannon “improperly exercised equitable jurisdiction” in hearing the case and that the entire proceeding should be dismissed. Notably, the court also found that regardless of the status of a document in question (personal or presidential), the government maintains the authority to seize it under a warrant supported by probable cause.
The panel wrote, “The law is clear. We cannot write a rule that allows any subject of a search warrant to block government investigations after the execution of the warrant. Nor can we write a rule that allows only former presidents to do so.”

I want to applaud and thank folks such as those at The Lincoln Project for standing strong as "Republicans against the fraud of Trumpism”. Sadly, some of the Republican Party that went for Trump allowed some semi-fascist and hateful elements to creep into their politics.
The sad truth is that Trump was a huckster who was going to insert himself into the political landscape as soon as there was a lane… and after 14 years of The Apprentice, that lane emerged. But that lane didn’t emerge just anywhere.
That lane specifically arrived at Trump’s front door visa-vie the Republican Party.
The Republican party of Nixon, or Reagan, or maybe even Bush would not have allowed his personality-based cult-like and semi-fascist tendencies to thrive. But for some reason, the post Tea-Party, post John Boehner, and post Newt Gingrich Party had a lane wide open for the con-man known as Donald Trump.
Democrats may not be perfect. We may be starry-eyed sometimes. But we govern. And at the very least, when the huckster, con-man, and snake oil salesman known as “Donald Trump” came along, there was NO LANE for him in the Democratic Party.
And since Donald Trump was actually a Democrat himself, but also physically had no decipherable principles or policy, it didn’t matter which party he landed.
Yet the “Post-Tea” Party Republicans fell over for him like so many bowling pins. There was more than a “path” for him… there was an eight-lane highway.
Which is a HUGE bummer for all involved.
I don’t say that because I despise the conservative opposition. I don't. I point this out because I believe the opposition can do better.
It has to.
I have optimism in the wake of this last election: namely, I don’t think we’re ever gonna go back to Trump. And I think society is trying to heal itself from the onslaught of mass disinformation on and amongst the humans.
And just because I call myself a proud Democrat, that doesn’t mean that I don’t want there to be a healthy, thriving party with different beliefs, thoughts, and policies. I want my party to thrive but I want to come by it earnestly.
When extremism finds a grasp on your “thing”, such as the hateful, self-serving, non-ideas from the Trump wing, it’s time to make that thing better again.
So, I want to live in GRATITUDE to all voters who came out and voted out some of the “Trumpiest” of candidates for all the right reasons.
It mattered… and we did it. We brought back a “lane” from which both parties can reasonably find solutions to govern; likewise, a lane to reasonably disagree on solutions for governing.
But least there will be TWO PARTIES governing as honest actors, neither one trying to tank the system in deference to a single monolithic personality. At least in the long run.
And that should be the goal regardless of YOUR party.
Former President Trump on Saturday falsely cited election fraud as a reason to terminate the Constitution, after Elon Musk released information about Twitter's role in limiting access to a story about Hunter Biden.
What he's saying: "So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution," he continued. "Our great 'Founder' did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!"
You are joking of course.
