This is really irritating Putin. He was going to unify the old Federation and hand it over to a protege to finish after he retires in 2024.
....or a cunning plan going according to plan, to leave office in a time of upmost chaos where the newcomer will be too busy sorting out the 52 card pick up for them to bother with Putin and his squirreled away mega-wealth?

from that link
The biggest interpretation dispute arose in 2008 after the war between Russia and Georgia. Estonia condemned(switch to another service)Russia's actions quickly and vigorously.

At that time, Estonia also demanded a stricter policy from Russia from the EU, but the then President of Finland, Tarja Halonen , defended Finland's more cautious line.

Two weeks ago, in Yle's A-Talk program, MEP Mauri Pekkarinen (center) commented on the attitude of the Baltic countries when talking about the unity of the EU countries in the face of the Russian threat.

Pekkarinen stated that "since now they have been separated from the old Soviet Union or become independent, they have been agitated all along."

Iltalehti interpreted(switch to another service)Pekkarinen's appearance to smooth out Putin's actions.

A smug and bona fide acknowledgment across the Gulf of Finland has never seemed wise. At the latest, Finland now has a place for self-critical reflection.

The idea that we have been particularly familiar with the Kremlin's thinking has been relaxed in Finland. Now, on the third day of Russia's attack, it is no longer unclear which side of the Gulf of Finland finally had a more realistic view of Putin's Russia.

Part of the impetus for WW2 from the Nazis was their economic fiscal cliff in the late thirties...pretty sure repeating the same conditions and expecting a different outcome is either MAD or mad, if not both.

It's clearly an emotional moment and people with levers want to be seen doing whatever they can, regardless of long term thinking, to smite the foe. But there is a substantial dollar value attached to messing with the controls of big money. And for all you know this could be playing right into Putin's game of splitting the international order between a weakened West and a strengthened axis of evil.

You're wrong. In 1924 Hitler wrote a book during his stay in the Landsberg prison. Among other things he wrote about the need to create Lebensraum for the Aryan master race by moving Germany's borders a couple of thousand kilometres to the east. Since the designated area was already occupied by other countries, primarily Poland and Soviet Russia, and given various treaties involving Poland, WWII was inevitable the moment Hitler became Germany's Chancellor, then dictator a couple of months later in 1933. Whatever it is you label "economic fiscal cliff in the late thirties" made no difference one way or another.

China have actually hypnotised Putin, compelling him to invade, so that they can judge whether the west are likely to put up a fight over Taiwan. The Chinese are always behind everything.

This is just typical of the Tories - knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Totalling up what the Russian’s have paid in donations to the Tory party comes to <£10m. What the Russians have got in return seems to be complete control over our politicians and the dismantling of our democracy. You could look at it as just another failed Tory privatisation, except this time it's themselves.

The banking system seems to be a bit unpredictable at the moment".
