If I have to be at community risk better it with Omicron.
Queensland has recorded 34 new locally acquired COVID cases, with Chief Health Officer John Gerrard saying the Omicron strain could become the dominant variant within days.

Key points:

Overnight the state recorded 42 new COVID cases
The CHO says 89.53 per cent of Queensland's population is double-dose vaccinated
There are now 142 active cases across Queensland
Overnight the state recorded 42 new COVID cases overall, with seven linked to interstate travellers and one being an overseas acquired infection.

Authorities say most cases have minimal symptoms, while one unvaccinated woman is moderately unwell in hospital with breathing difficulties.

Dr Gerrard said the Omicron strain was fast becoming dominant in Queensland.

"Twenty-one out of the 25 last tested viruses [were] found to be the Omicron. This is happening very rapidly, even more rapidly than we originally predicted," he said.

There is no possibility of testing keeping up...

New Zealand may once again defy that ....

Sarasota is special. Everything Floridian is special. Looking at the US as a whole, the number of currently hospitalised Covid patients has increased by 50% in the past five weeks.
Of course we're special. We didn't lock down like everyone else. Our medical systems coped just fine even at the height of the TEOTWAWKI pandemic. We didn't arrest people for going outside without a mask. We have lots of guns and we can shoot burglars (some don't see that as a plus, go figure). We have no state income tax. Our economy is booming. Our property market is on fire as all the Damn Yankees move here to get out of their dystopian shithole states and our population is growing massively (I'm not particularly glad about that, I must admit, though we made out nicely on the house and are now in a much less crowded and unYankeefied area). Republicans now outnumber Democrats for the first time in memory, due to those Damn Yankees (apparently the wokesters are staying put). Our governor is a rising political star and is likely to be the next President when the Wokeholes get voted out en masse in '22 and '24. We're currently the 17th largest economy in the world and on schedule to be the 10th largest by 2030. We've got great beaches, great wetlands, the Keys, we're basically a tropical paradise and only getting better every year. I could not be more grateful we got stuck here for Covid.

Yep, we're special as all fuck, and we're going to Make America Florida!
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Better not, Florida is half working only because of the MASSIVE amount of immigrant workers who make it possible to take care of all the zombies and the tourist traps... If you make USA FLorida, you'll have to invite over the whole population of Africa, and probably half of India and South America over to do all the work the zombies won't be doing.

You once again know nothing of this country and once again you are quoting unsourced news reports. We have 17,5 million people, outside of Brisbane how many do you have? FA! We have one urban mass of 15 million in an area less than greater London which we call the Randstad and is made up of the four major cities. We are the most densely populated area of Europe.
There has never been an agreed definition of what a Covid case is as there never been an agreed definition of a Covid death. You quote fairy data as does the RIVM which has been caught out regularly for failing to report accurate data but what country does?

The Dutch did not rush out to buy presents and stock up as there is no need and the vast majority give presents on the 5th. December not at xmas. The producers of small personal gifts have been pushing for years to bring in the practice with vast advertising campaigns but the Dutch dont take to it. Supermarkets and all other essential shops are open so there is no need to "stock up". The largest grocery chain; Albert Heijn will be open everyday during the xmas period. There are always crowds out on Saturdays. The Dutch love to winkelen (shopping).

The Anglo-Saxon mindset is unable to comprehend how xmas is in other countries. Here it was always a family celebration with food and booze but no presents. Turkeys are seldom seen and usually game is preferred.
If this country fascinates you so much why not learn the language and read local papers and find out the real truth.

We have 500 plus in IC's with suspected Covid infection combined with other illnesses out of a population of 17,5 million. Not pure Covid cases as they are almost non-existent.

For the sake of your country it won't be made Florida. At 2,896/million your state has the 9th highest Covid death rate. You're not so far off Mississippi in first place with 3,479 and Alabama with 3,335 in second.

Went Chrissie shopping yesterday to the big local shopping centre. So glad QLD has reinstated mask mandates. Would hate to be amongst those thousands with them all breathing covid on me.

Yes. European data are the best data, even when they are republished on a US web site. List of sources here. Dutch data are of course the best of the best. That's why your country's statistics are sourced from here. The data are updated daily.

Total Cases / Deaths: California 4,908,775 / 74,743 Texas 4,396,723 / 73,739 Florida 3,742,364 / 62,220 New York 2,895,808 / 58,277

Population ranking 1 California, 2 Texas, 3 Florida 4 New York

Damn. Follows the population of the states exactly. Whooda thunk it? Despite widely varying responses. Spooky.

Here's the case fatality rate. California 1.52% Texas 1.67% Florida 1.66% New York 2.03%. Look at New York. Fuck happened there? Maybe they should have listened to DeSantis instead of Former Governor Emmy Award.

We're 21st in 7 day average death rates, 11th in 7 day average new cases, over 70% vaccinated (including the 5 - 11 year olds). Looks like we're doing just fine, but y'all do you and we'll do us.
