I don't think we will get back to a pre-covid normal for a long time. With variations from place to place, it might approximate it in terms of relatively normal living, but there will always be a certain nervous watching of the news, for further outbreaks, for changed medical advice, for information on variants and tweaked vaccines...

What's the logic behind calling it Omicorn? Lucky name from a hat or something more sinister the bods at the centre of the storm alone know?

Do you hear yourself?

"Emergent variants aren't normal in the context of the pre-pandemic."

Uh, you mean before the emergence of covid?

Before there was a virus there were no new versions of the virus and that's what they mean by normal...
Normal as in normal. No need for social distancing, no need for masks, no need for QR code check in, no lockdowns, less fear of dying from a transmissible disease.
Yeah, that's the normal we're talking about.
No, you were talking about virus variants being normal. A totally different thing.
"What are you looking for" before returning to normal?
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.

More fuel for the dictators. I bet you a new variant will appear (by chance of course) every three months.

Most people are optimists, omicron optimism is what keeps hope alive. Reality is what ever it will become however. Stock up on toilet rolls before the bubble of optimism is burst by some unfortunate fact. The panic returns and only Chris Whitty is holding back the flood.

I'm keeping track of my toilet paper consumption. 5 sheets a day. See how long certain rolls last.
