Vaccine exemption certificates are going to be a nightmare to police...

There are a tiny number of people who have genuine medical reasons to avoid a vaccine, but the numbers are (from all I've read) minuscule. The problem will be anti-vaxxers using corrupt doctors or other health professionals to obtain an exemption.

Not here Jim. We have had a whole load of cases already brought before the courts but they have all failed. If you dont want use the "Corona Check" app you just dont get in. End of story. We had a 50% increase in jabs.

When the New South Wales government made the wearing of approved helmets compulsory it provided an exemption for medical reasons. A lot of riders turned up with clearly bogus certificates that claimed they cannot wear helmets because they get these excruciatingly painful migraines whenever they do. The government withdrew the exemption. Ever since then you are not permitted to ride motorbikes without a helmet, regardless of why you cannot wear one.

I think the same approach should be taken with vaccinations.

However, there is still the issue of that very small number of people that react badly to vaccines (again, from an article on the ABC I read a while back). Perhaps what is needed is that such exemptions can only be granted via a panel of government-appointed doctors, certainly not one's local GP...

Same issue as the very small number of people who cannot wear helmets because they get these excruciatingly painful migraines or have some other genuine reason why they just can't. In the end a person who cannot be vaccinated for a medical reason spreads the virus just as much as a person who wilfully remains unvaccinated. No bike riding for the helmetless one, no mosh pits or whatever for the unvaccinated one. Inevitably, there will be genuinely regrettable sob-stories, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

I take your point; it makes a certain ruthless sense.

However, it is virtually certain that some form of vaccine exemption certificate will be issued in Oz, whether we like it or not. Given that reality, I would prefer to see the most robust system possible to ensure they are granted only to those few with a genuine medical reason.

Yes, it's ruthless, and I agree with you; no politician will have the intestinal fortitude to implement a "no exceptions" policy. The public perception with helmetless motorbike rider is that only criminal gang members are affected. Nobody cares about them. The Murdoch and Packer press will go to town on any politician who is perceived to spoil aunty May's afternoon at the bowling club.

Then there is this Twat:
Nobel laureate who found HIV now backs homoeopathy, anti-vaxxers & calls Covid a lab accident
French virologist Luc Montagnier went viral on WhatsApp for apparently saying ‘people who take any Covid vaccine won’t survive’. That’s fake, but he has made many such claims.

Another brave Trumpster
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department reported Wednesday that a man in his 40s died from the coronavirus. The health department said he was unvaccinated.

Another 98 COVID-19 cases were reported in the health district.

This is good
YouTube moves to block and remove all anti-vaccine misinformation

Company has already taken down 130,000 pieces of video with false info about vaccines

I don't know what I think about this. I feel a little uncomfortable with a private company deciding what's verboten. That discomfort is eased somewhat in this specific case of vaccination. But I just wish there was a better way to stop idiots believing anything they see on youtube. Ultimately we'd value education more and that would be the road out of terminal stupidity.

Don't count on it.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?
