What do any of y'all know about The Delta? (That's what we call it now, THE Delta). WE'RE the fucking Kings of The Delta, all y'all just pikers. Flor-DUH! Flor-DUH! We had 151,415 new cases for the week beginning August 6th. Beat that, any of y'all! Ha! You can't, can you? You know why? Cuz we're Number 1! WE'RE NUMBER 1!

Still OK on the hospital front, though. Here's this week's stats. The unvaccinated (aka the Great Unbrained) still make up 89% of the Covid patients. They've added more ICU beds, we now have 100. This doesn't count the other hospitals in the area, just Sarasota Memorial.

Hospital / ICU Capacity
Today’s patient census: 776

Today's COVID-positive patients total: 239 (230 yesterday)

Today’s ICU census: 76 (no change from yesterday)

COVID-positive patients in ICU today: 52 (51 yesterday)

% Unvaccinated COVID-positive patients in the hospital: 89%*

Total hospital beds: 839

ICU bed capacity: 100

SMH has a team of clinicians — ICU doctors, nurses and hospital leaders — who monitor our census and public health indicators to determine if and when we need to increase ICU capacity.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

What delta does to kids here is applicable everywhere. It's not like your scientists will ignore the data.
You dont get it do you: you live in the USA I live in the EU. Is that clear? What happens there is not what happens here. I know many Americans find it difficult to comprehend this but life goes on at a another level here. You are losing it and we are winning. We are at 80% vaccination. Not fairy data but hard facts. 95% are willing to take the vaccination which is totally free to everyone over 12.
Next week the first schools start again. All the third level education starts up again with no social distancing.
Meh, more vacillating, vaccinated dick waving.

You know when you were disputing the infectiousness and lethality of Covid last year, lambasting the competence and professionalism of public health officials, medics and nurses, and railing against lockdowns, masks and social distancing? Well, if you look at places like Texas and Florida today you can see exactly what it really means to have those kinds of silly ideas played out in public.

So what was the relevance of the Netherlands to what I said anyway? We will see what delta does to kids.

The district board meeting was a nightmare. Apparently you can claim to be whatever you want and give your little speech without any discussion of what you said. What a terrible interpretation of a democratic process.

Some idiot stood up claiming to be a doctor and spent his time saying vaccines don't work and masks suck. Fine, but nobody can ask him questions?

Remember this guy? Leslie Lawrenson? British anti-vaxxer who got covid and made vlogs claiming it just like the flu, but then died a week later?

Turns out, he was a big fan of Cunt's man Bret Weinstein. His family were going through his social media to find pictures for his funeral and they found him boosting a lot of Bret Weinstein's anti-vax and covid related content.

It is amazing to me that these people who get pulled into these alternate reality narratives are unable to escape even when it is leading so many of them to death.

Yes, that is America. More specifically, Texas. Things are looking rather grim at the moment. Not only are schools prime vectors for community infection, and their idiot governor has outlawed mask and other measures for public employees and on nominally public property like schools, but the delta variant is rife and being caught by younger people, bringing a lot of minors to the pediatric ICUs which are now stuffed to the brim. So Scot, why are you waving your metaphorically vaccinated dick around in front of US schoolchildren like that exactly?
Thank you very much Brian for the fucking insults you jerk. [...] Why are you so insulting? As a moderator you are breaking so many rules so who do I complain to?
Asking someone why they are waving their metaphorically vaccinated dick around in front of US schoolchildren like that is a question. Calling someone a jerk is an insult.

But Bret Weinstein is not an anti-vaxxer. He just asks many very interesting questions. He also has a PhD in evolutionary biology, and you should know that the field of evolutionary biology is all about virology and epidemiology, so you better take his questions as seriously as they are entitled to be. :prof:

Thank you very much Brian for the fucking insults you jerk. We dont have that problem. America is fucked. It never got its act together. They claim to have the best health care in the world but they cant vaccinate. What is the fuck with fucking masks? They dont work. Delta is not rife here especially amongst younger children. We cant help the mess they are making.
Just because it is fucking America it is not the whole world. I am really surprised. Once again America has failed and it will always fail. The sooner it goes down the plug the better.

Why are you so insulting? As a moderator you are breaking so many rules so who do I complain to?
I'm disagreeing with you, not insulting you - unless you find disagreement insulting of course. Even then, I disagree with you on some things and agree with you on others, so calling me a jerk seems a rather extreme reaction, and somewhat unnecessary.

Sean was talking about how things are down his way, particularly with regard to Covid's impact on school-aged children. Sean is about to start work in the education system, so his concerns about the state of Covid in Texas are legitimate and relevant. On the other hand, pointing out that the US is not the Netherlands is an irrelevant non sequitur, as is crowing about how the NL is vaccinating the over 12s.

Now then. Who, besides you, is assuming the NL or EU is expected to fix the mess the US is making? Who, besides you, is claiming that Sean's comment, or my reply, means we think America is the whole world? Nobody - you're tipping at windmills again. As for hoping the US goes down the plug sooner rather than later, well, I'll just say that the level of compassion and empathy you've demonstrated for schoolchildren--who are members of society lacking the power and agency to prevent themselves from becoming infection--is clear for all to see.

Noting how getting on a faux high horse of outrage at perceived insults was a convenient way to avoid addressing this:
