Actually, our CFR has decreased to 1.5% from 1.6%, despite a couple million new cases. We're under the national average now, in a state with the second highest percentage of people over 65 (Hey, that's ME!).

Of more relevance, according to worldometers Florida's 7-day rolling average of daily deaths is 72, Texas's is 44 and for the US it is 443. Working this out on a per million population basis gives

Hundreds of Missouri Christian pastors, at least 22 of them ministering to the faithful in the Springfield area, pleaded with state residents on Wednesday to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as the disease continued to tear through the unvaccinated population.

The USA TODAY Network vaccine tracker showed that just 40.61 percent of Missouri's 6.1 million residents are fully vaccinated to date, with 47.21 percent of residents having taken at least one dose. Those levels are far below "herd immunity," generally considered by scientists to exist when at least 70 percent of the population is immunized.

In that context, the 125-year-old Missouri-based Baptist publication Word & Way organized and published a statement backed by more than 200 Christian leaders. They urged everyone to vaccinate as "an easy way of living out Jesus’s command to 'love your neighbor as yourself.'"...

The Catholic bishops in Colorado have emphasized the need to respect those with conscientious objections to the COVID-19 vaccines and have provided a template letter for any Catholics with objections to mandatory vaccination. They also welcomed the City of Denver’s vaccination mandate for including a religious exemption.
