Because Belgium lacks the superb bicycle infrastructure the Netherlanders have. This makes it more difficult to spread the virus.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
For a start they are not two Dutch countries. Wallonië is French so do you make comparisons with France. You would be mad to try. België is not one country but four. They are completely different cultures. I have worked and lived in both Vlaanderen and Nederland. Vlaanderen has no resemblance to Nederland except for the language which means that some can communicate with each other only after a certain level ie. the better educated. Joe Blogs of Antwerpen could not communicate with Joe Blogs of Amsterdam. As for Brussels it is best to speak English these days. Bruxellois is almost a separate language.rainbow wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:04 amEspecially when you compare two Dutch Countries. Authorities in België approach collecting data very differently to Nederland. Up to about 25 years ago all data of the State was considered state secrets. Working in traffic and transport we were never allowed traffic data from them even when I worked in Antwerpen. You were issued with State data which was heavily censured to hide the state of the roads there. The same is true of Covid data and old habits die hard. What you see will not have any reflection on reality.
Corruption in Vlaanderen and for all Wallonië knows no limits. Not paying taxes is a great sport there. My sister bought a house outside Brussel that the owner never had permission 50 years ago to build it and she only found out when she tried to sell it. It is calculated that 40% of houses dont have planning permission but exact figures are difficult to get and we all know why.
So rainbow stop comparing chalk and cheese as you simply cant. Any African connections are probably through Wallonië which were the colonisers as Vlaanderen in those times was too poor and ignorant. If it was not for the EU I would hate to think what state België would now be in.

Still wondering why Dutch data is not the best data?

It is the best data when it aligns with Scot's bias.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Sydney covid lockdown could last months as daily cases reach record high
Ozland is doing great. Testing does not prevent. Vaccination is the only way out.More than 170 daily cases reported, with block of flats sealed off by police, outbreaks affecting two hospitals and further delays to Novavax vaccine
New South Wales reported a record high number of covid cases on Tuesday despite more than four weeks of lockdown for the Sydney region, with signs tough measures could extend until September.
“Vaccination is the key to our freedom. Getting jabs in arms is a key part of our strategy,” said state premier Gladys Berejiklian. “I want August to be the month where everyone comes forward to get the jab. That is key to us being able to see what September looks like. I don’t think anyone can deny that the vaccination rate is absolutely key to how we live life in NSW.”
The lockdown had been due to end on Saturday but with less than 13% of the state’s population fully vaccinated, curbs in some form were expected to remain.
More than half of Australia’s population of nearly 26 million has been in lockdown after an outbreak of the highly infectious Delta variant took hold in the state of New South Wales and spread to three others.
