At the time, the headline on the piece read, “Tom Cotton keeps repeating a coronavirus conspiracy theory that was already debunked.” The paper noted that Cotton said during a Fox Business interview that “we don’t know where it originated, and we have to get to the bottom of that.” However, they nevertheless treated him as though he had definitively declared the virus’ origins, alleging he was “fanning the embers of a conspiracy theory that has been repeatedly debunked by experts.”

The newspaper also dutifully quoted Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai’s response to Cotton’s comments:

“But it’s very harmful, it’s very dangerous, to stir up suspicion, rumors, and spread them among the people. For one thing, this will create panic. Another thing is that it will fan up racial discrimination, xenophobia, all these things that will really harm our joint efforts to combat the virus.”

That he had, at the time of the email, not ruled it out.

So far I haven't heard any expert rule out a "leak", just saying that it is improbable. I have heard experts rule out "created".

Same here, although some news reports confused the two IIRC.

Well that's me vaccinated. Very efficient. Came twenty minutes early but no waiting just straight through. The longest bit was sitting for quarter of hour after the vaccination. Never felt a thing and no side effects.
We are sending a load of vaccine to Suriname as they have run out (surprise, surprise). All theatres, cinema's, cafe's etc. are opening today with restricted numbers but in three weeks it will be drastically increased.

Deleted what? Fauci never claimed that the Coronavirus could not have escaped from the Wuhan IV laboratory. He just regarded it as very unlikely. From an interview with the National Geographic published in May 5 2020:

Nsikan Akpan: One topic in the news lately has been the origins of SAR-CoV-2. Do you believe or is there evidence that the virus was made in the lab in China or accidentally released from a lab in China?

Anthony Fauci: If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats, and what's out there now is very, very strongly leaning toward this [virus] could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated—the way the mutations have naturally evolved. A number of very qualified evolutionary biologists have said that everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that it evolved in nature and then jumped species.

Also irrelevant to the job he was doing.

Nsikan Akpan: Sure, but what if scientists found the virus outside the lab, brought it back, and then it escaped?

Anthony Fauci: But that means it was in the wild to begin with. That's why I don't get what they're talking about [and] why I don't spend a lot of time going in on this circular argument.
