The Coronavirus Thread
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Oh, I understand what I need to. Especially about your understanding about the lab leak hypothesis described by Heying and Weinstein.
It's almost exactly like you are totally ignorant, yet still insisting you must be right because 'science and logic'.
Cute though. I enjoy the enthusiasm.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
They don't need no steenkin' evidence. This from somebody who was there:
'How the Trump Administration Twisted Coronavirus Intelligence'
'How the Trump Administration Twisted Coronavirus Intelligence'
President Trump was first briefed about the novel coronavirus emerging in China on January 23 and 28, 2020. Vice President Pence, for whom I served as homeland security and counterterrorism advisor, received briefings on the coronavirus at about the same time. From the beginning, the U.S. government had limited access to Wuhan, including the two sites believed most likely to be the sources of the virus: the wet market and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. From those first briefings in January to the present, the definitive account of where SARS-CoV-2 came from has been uncertain.
But that didn’t stop some from making irresponsible assumptions. A January 26, 2020 Washington Times article linking the Wuhan Institute to “Beijing’s covert bio-weapons program” caught the eye of some in the White House. (The article has since been updated to reflect that its insinuations are insufficiently substantiated.) Over the course of several weeks in late January and February, Pence asked multiple times to be briefed specifically about the allegations in the article. Public reporting indicates that then, as now, the intelligence community could not corroborate nor refute them. At one point, Pence’s request for more information came in the form of a sticky note attached to a copy of the article with “What is this?” written in marker in the vice president’s handwriting.

Considering the abuse to which the intelligence process was subjected during the last year of the Trump administration, there are ample reasons for Biden to ask for a new, updated report on how SARS-CoV-2 came to be.
The true origins of the virus may never be known. But as long as there are political points to be scored, many alumni of the Trump administration don’t care.
Throughout the course of the pandemic, the Trump administration’s first and strongest instinct was to find a scapegoat rather than formulate a response. Whether or not their pet theory turns out to have been right, they will have supported it for the wrong reasons.

The CIA has about 5 times the budget of the WHO.
They failed to warn the US President of this outbreak, or the former President didn't listen.
Who do you think is responsible for this "failure of intelligence"?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Since you keep playing the credentionalist card, lets play.
Yes, both Weinstein and Heying have PhDs in evolutionary biology. Unfortunately, their field of expertise does not make them experts in virology.
Weinstein's PhD thesis is titled "Evolutionary Trade-offs as a Central organizing Principle in Biology". It treats the topic on a species level. The word "virus" does not appear in the thesis a single time. And why should it? The topic is about biological evolution, not pathogens.
Heying's PhD thesis is titled "The Evolutionary Ecology and Sexual selection of a Madagascan Poison Frog (Mantella Laevigata)". The word "virus" does not appear in the thesis a single time. And why should it? The topic is about a frog, not pathogens.
Now check Florian Krammer's credentials and his area of expertise out:
And this is his brief contribution to the "the coronavirus may have escaped out of the Wuhan IV laboratory" discussion: "Not impossible but less than 1% for a lab leak of a natural isolate. Logs below that for an engineered virus."During my bachelor studies in biotechnology, I developed a keen interest in virology and vaccinology while interning at Baxter Bioscience. The vaccine development process fascinated me and this experience convinced me that this was something I was interested in pursuing further. I joined Dr. Reingard Grabherr's laboratory at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, for my master’s degree and Ph.D. thesis where I gained extensive experience in basic vaccine development and expression of influenza virus proteins and virus-like particles in various expression systems.

I know that neither Heying nor Weinstein ever once claimed the virus escaped from Wuhan's IV laboratory, but they do stress that the possibility must needs do be discussed. Right wingers latch on to it, not for health reasons, but for political purposes. They refer to the couple's expertise in evolutionary biology - a field unrelated to virology and epidemiology - to score political points. It is about as useful in the fight against the pandemic as prayer. Both are a waste of time.
Now, my question to you is: What are you trying to achieve with your mentions of Heyling and Weinstein's take on the coronavirus and their credentials as evolutionary biologists?

Because I think they are smeared, by people rushing to find evidence that they were wrong, before even knowing what they said.
It's actually pretty funny.
Most of why I enjoy their offerings, is because the tech giants suppress discussion. As if Bill Gates or the board of twitter is fit to protect you from dangerous information. Or if Jack Dorsey is the expert on human biology and trans activism.
Funny how deep you dug, without just giving them a listen, on a topic that interests you. It's almost like your 'fact-checks' are reliably on one side of a political spectrum. But THAT can't be right.

A Denver Sheriff's deputy, who belittled people that received Covid-19s vaccinations, died from complications of Covid-19 on Wednesday. Daniel "Duke" Trujillo (33) was a deputy sheriff for 7 years.
Trujillo had previously shared social media content that appeared to reject the COVID vaccine. A Facebook profile photo updated in early May said "I have an immune system," a common refrain among those eschewing pandemic-era precautionary measures.
In late April, Trujillo's profile picture bore a banner that read "I don't care if you've had your vaccine."

Orly? I do listen. That is why I wrote
Feel free to explain how I got that wrong.
Weinstein runs two Youtube channels. In the past 11 months he has uploaded almost 800 videos in which he presents and discusses his views. The videos have been watched about 40 million times in that period. Additionally, the likes of Bill Maher, Dave Rubin and others give him air time on their shows in which he presents and discusses his views. Tell me which tech giants suppress discussion, and where.

You should stick to the side of facebook. Gates, who hung around with Epstein after his conviction, has your best interests at heart.

Never mind Project Veritas. Our member from Yellowknife is just desperate to changed the subject in order to distract us from the fact that he was dead wrong about 1) me not listening to Weinstein and Heying and 2) that giant tech is suppressing discussion by or about them. PV just happened to be the first squirrel to spring into his mind.
