I'd like to know where and how to look how courts judge disputes between animal owners and garden owners, depending on the various misdeeds of either sides and their four legged feud makers.

Almost all cat owners in my area also have a garden. I live on a quarter acre piece of land, replete with birds, one and a half cats and a doglet. The birds build nest in the eight trees and three huge grevillea bushes that were not there before I bought the property. They also hoe into the nectar when they are in bloom. Should I sue myself?

The birdbath is always filled up and well utilised, especially on hot days.

Meanwhile, 12,000 hectares of land has just been razed outside Sydney in preparation for its second international airport and twice as much land has been cleared in New South Wales in the past decade compared to the decade before. Koalas will be extinct in the wild throughout the state before 2050. Of course other wildlife is being increasingly deprived of its habitat as well.

By the way, I do not object to meat being eaten that Caucasians keep off their menu. That includes cats, dogs, horses and whatever else lands on plates and in bowls, but excludes meat from species threatened with extinction.

I was comparing the amount of damage we do to our native fauna with that of cats. The former is spectacularly greater than the latter. The problem of cats in other people's gardens is of even less importance. Hermit, you know I'm a cat lover, but I think that you are underestimating the damage done to small native mammal populations by feral cats. Domestic cats in other people's gardens is a minor issue, I agree, but ferals really make a mess of populations of bandicoots etc. And I agree that our land clearing is also an atrocious attack on our remaining wild communities and threatened species.

Just because you make an utter mess of your environment. Once again your lack of knowledge is showing. The demise of song birds is a problem and Covid and the Corvids has not helped.
The noise problem hardly exists these days as the youth have taken to electric transport in a big way. It is cool to be silent. The guys riding noisy brom and snor fietsen are dinosaurs. The cool guy rents his electric bromfiets from one of many sharing companies and leaves it on the side of the road where it is picked up. Owning is uncool. Renting via your phone is very cool.

What is "whingeing" when it is at home.

This article says Australia’s cats kill two billion animals annually. It's a calculated guess, of course, but to me the figure seems to be in the ball park. Perhaps it is you who has difficulties grasping the size of damage humans have inflicted.

The Tasmanian Tigers send their condolences to the messed up bandicoot population, as does the rest of the list of species that have become extinct outright in Australia or in parts of it since 1788.

Once again. Where the dykes are built there was no land so try again. 40% of the country lies below sea-level. We dont scar the country which is visible from space for useless quick profits. Talk about comparing chalk and cheese.

I think song birds in city gardens are important as do many others. Digging up coal is something completely different.
