Re: Media Bias
I did not go to school in this country where a classic education is readily available in state schools. Edinburgh schools were a little thin when it came to classical education. If you were lucky you might have been given French but at a pathetic low level a la Ted Heath. Latin was reserved for expensive fee paying establishments.

Re: Media Bias
I'm sorry for you, although it's of little practical use, I still will swear to the value of classical education, and am rather happy with the fact I got more of it than most.

Re: Media Bias
That can't have been much good, as I hear the girls in Britain needed actual locals to give them French lessons.

Re: Media Bias
What a name.
A French letter. I remember the barbers (not hairdressers) with their: "Anything required for the weekend, Sir." Adverts for Durex Gossamers were plastered all over the shop. It was men only...

Re: Media Bias
It's rather funny how everything having to do with sex tends to be attributed to other countries... you call rubbers French letters, whereas we call those : "capotes anglaises' (literally English cloaks) ... similarly, to you, the pox is the French disease, whereas, we tended to call it 'le mal espagnol' (Spanish illness, or Italian, or Neapolitan... or whatever, according to the vagaries of history and whoever we were disliking at the moment)

Um, 'Canadian Style' sex was born here. It is a strange, small backwater though.

Re: Media Bias
Never heard of that, do you care to develop? or at least orient me toward a relevant source of information?
I feel I must ask, because, even today, I wanted to find some information on the net, and did not succeed in that endeavour, either because my google fu is miserable, or because, indeed, nefarious malefactors hid the information I was in need of so shamed were they of their onw actions.

Re: Media Bias
They don't speak of it, which would be both gross and rude, but they have women very adept at lying backl and thinking of something or other, and men who are all to eager to give in to their baser nature.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 11:10 pmDutch caps?
