Re: Palestine v Israel.
One mans terrorist, another mans freedom fighter....middle east been like that a long time, what you want is some sort of God like being to sort the region out, maybe super-intelligent AI can do it?

God has some input here.
For instance, does Palestine respect all forms of god-worship? Does Israel?

A sufficiently advanced AI will make notions of religion and atheism mute, one day soon.

Islamic states only respect one.
Modern, civilized countries respect many.
Careful who you respect, BP. You might accidentally side with the real religious nutters.
I don't believe in religion, or gods, but I respect your right to believe, or not. I also respect your choice to change your mind. If you wanted to join every religion, for a few days, to try them out, is there one that would react to that apostasy more threateningly than others?

That's precisely the problem, those morons out there have forgotten they worship the same godhead and should therefore not kill each other...
All those morons have forgotten the One True God and turned to evil. As recompense for their wicked ways, we Atheists should take it upon ourselves to give them the only fitting reward to be found, and unleash Sunfire and Brimstone upon them as their god did to the Sodomites.

Two points:
* Palestinians are not a united theocracy; they cannot be described in the same way as the Saudis or Iran
* Technically, Israel may have freedom of religion, but it is clearly and definitely a Jewish state, so one religion is very much favoured by the state.

Bibi: "But Hamas was using the building! Really!"
This is what happens when you vote for fascists.

This is what happens when you vote for fascists.
We speak with Palestinian reporter Youmna al-Sayed, who was among the journalists who had to flee for their lives when Israel bombed and leveled a 12-story Gaza building that housed the offices of media organizations including the Associated Press and Al Jazeera. Israel has claimed, without evidence, that the building was being used by Hamas operatives, but al-Sayed says it’s part of a pattern of Israeli attacks on media. “This is no coincidence,” she says.

Re: Palestine v Israel.
The problem with most Islamic states is that they are extremely conservative. You know, like Trump and all the Christofascists who love him.
You know why civilized countries civilized? They are left-wing by comparison.

False dichotomy.
Actually, dumb dichotomy.

"If they insult us, we pull a knife. If they pull a knife, we pull a tank. If they send people to the fence to throw stones at us, we send six of theirs to the hospital. If they send one of ours to the hospital, we send 40 of theirs to the morgue, bomb the power substations, the phone networks, and the water infrastructure, destroy major traffic intersections and food distribution capacity, the ability of journalists to gather and report news, and we target their religious leaders and the heads of their civil authorities along with senior surgeons and hospital administrators in the places where they live and work."
