Mucormycosis (black rot/black brain fungus/etc) cases are massively up in India.

That's one fungus you really don't want to pick up.

A conspiracy ripping through the anti-vax world may finally drive some anti-maskers to do the unthinkable: wear a mask and keep their distance.

The conspiracy—which comes in several shapes and sizes—more or less says the vaccinated will “shed” certain proteins onto the unvaccinated who will then suffer adverse effects. The main worry is the “shedding” will cause irregular menstruation, infertility, and miscarriages. The entirely baseless idea is a key cog in a larger conspiracy that COVID-19 was a ploy to depopulate the world, and the vaccine is what will cull the masses.

Team notes immune system responding differently after vaccine. T-cells not changed but the cytokines used to message and attack show changes.

Interesting article about the need to ensure the air in indoor spaces is virus-free:

https://www.theage.com.au/national/quee ... 57qws.html
Combating COVID-19 and future pandemics will require a complete overhaul of indoor air quality standards, an international group of researchers says.

Queensland University of Technology air quality expert Lidia Morawska has led a group of nearly 40 researchers from 14 countries calling for a change in thinking around air quality in the wake of the pandemic.

They are specifically calling for the World Health Organisation to extend its indoor air quality guidelines to include airborne pathogens, and officially recognise the need to control airborne transmission of respiratory infections.

Professor Morawska, who is the director of QUT’s International Laboratory for Air Quality and Health, said there needed to be a “paradigm shift” in the way we deal with air quality in buildings, especially in offices and workplaces.

“In the 1800s there was a paradigm shift in thinking around clean water – countries moved to ensure clean drinking water and public health leaped forward as a result,” she said.

“We need to think of clean air in the same way, we should have virus-free air indoors.”

Delay in giving second jabs of Pfizer vaccine improves immunity
The UK’s decision to delay second doses of coronavirus vaccines has received fresh support from research on the over-80s which found that giving the Pfizer/BioNTech booster after 12 weeks rather than three produced a much stronger antibody response.

A study led by the University of Birmingham in collaboration with Public Health England found that antibodies against the virus were three-and-a-half times higher in those who had the second shot after 12 weeks compared with those who had it after a three-week interval.

Most people who have both shots of the vaccine will be well protected regardless of the timing, but the stronger response from the extra delay might prolong protection because antibody levels naturally wane over time.

Dr Helen Parry, a senior author on the study at Birmingham, said: “We’ve shown that peak antibody responses after the second Pfizer vaccination are really strongly boosted in older people when this is delayed to 11 to 12 weeks. There is a marked difference between these two schedules in terms of antibody responses we see.”...

That is splendid news. A very close friend of mine is among those in that age cohort who got their second jab on the delayed schedule in the UK.

One person, 90, died in county a week ago. 4 on ventilators. Not known how long. Presumably nobody would be on ventilator if vaccinated.

Daily cases down from 50 to 16.

Our figures dropped officially by more than 20% (strangely). Now it is full steam ahead for restrictions lifting. Next week we will be vaccinating 2 million a week from the age of 12. We are reaching 1 million just now. I get my second on the 4th of June. Thirty percent are refusing; mostly muslims and orthodox protestants.
