Caitlyn Jenner didn't play sports as a trans woman, so I don't give her career in men's sports any weight.
So being so good you can beat the world in ten different disciplines doesn't count as 'sports specialization'?

lol you so cute

What's her reasoning? What evidence supports it?

BTW, I looked Silverman up. She's not a politician.
She isn't very knowledgeable about that OR sports. She used to do comedy, but now only seems to do the bidding of politicians.

Like scrambling to pretend that a sport specialist doesn't know anything about sport.

Bet you have as little experience with sport as Silverman. Compared to Jenner, you two should probably fact-check yourself about sport before you sound stupid.

Oh, and add to that the undeniable sensitivity to trans issues, and you have an opinion which is worth MUCH more than either kind of specialist alone.

Of course, I understand Silverberg grunts and whinges about how wrong it all is, but that's how a lot of folks deal with reality.

Can't watch the video, but it has seemed the media bias would be in favour of one team.

Did they take the 'precision strike' side? Or the side of the 'bomb any target even if there is a hospital' side?
So you can't address the argument and resort to your usual trolling. I'm not surprised. :bored:

I'm open to what Jenner has to say, but because my intellectual standards are higher than yours, I won't give her, or you, a pass to opine on girls sports because she competed in men's sports. As usual, you are pushing a fallacious argument. Look up appeal to authority, and try to make better arguments. :{D

So, what's her reasoning? What evidence supports it? If you can't answer that, why should I pay any attention to you?

As for my experience with sport, I've competed in tennis, baseball, softball, basketball, football, swimming (100, 200, and 400 meter breaststroke and freestyle), rowing, track (100 and 220 yard dash, relay, long jump, and high jump), running, cycling (mountain bike and road), and my old non-competitive standby, hiking. I've also coached baseball and football.

But I've never competed at an NBA Celebrity All Star game, or thrown the first pitch at a major league baseball game, and Silverman has, so she may have the edge in experience.

But go ahead and hate on her if it makes you feel better. Just be careful, she might bean you. :what?:

Lets start again then, without personal attacks.

I think Jenner, with the long experience in sport, and the demonstrated understanding of the difference between a man, and a trans woman, has more to say on this topic than you credit.

Tell me, why allow men into women's sports?

Why allow boys into girls sports?

Men, women and trans anyone is allowed in open leagues, so it isn't about allowing everyone to play. Women and girls leagues were created specifically to exclude men, and allow a fair field for women.

If you want to start again, let's start with Jenner's reasoning. What is it?

She may have more to say due to her experience, but that doesn't guarantee it's not bollocks.

Also, have you checked to see if Silverman has anything to say beyond calling Jenner's position transphobic and Jenner herself a twat?

After all, news media often have a bias toward conflict at the expense of substance.

I know Jenner took the position that men and women are as different as boys and girls.

It's not really rocket science, after all.

As to whether girls should be allowed to compete without boys, well, it's pretty clearly the majority preference.

It's also common sense to anyone who thinks there should be girls divisions. Maybe there shouldn't.

Well, the only thing I've seen was "I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand. It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools."

There doesn't seem to be any elaboration.

As to majority preference, what measure are you referring to? I've seen polls all over the place.

The only people who should have a say in this are the women members of any given sporting league. If they are clearly against accepting trans-women, then so be it. If they're OK with it, then fine.

That would be my preference, but the US has sports in public schools, so the government is involved.

Good point about government schools - I guess I was thinking about private, non-government sporting leagues and bodies...

Yeah, at times I wonder if our school system would be better off if sports leagues and teams weren't part of their offerings, especially at the university level.

It really distorts how they are managed.

I think it's called title 9 (as a representation of the US political will), but I was referring to the CLEAR 'votes' in favour of girls sports, by the fact that there are girls sports organizations everywhere I've seen.

I didn't think that was in question, but if you disagree, I can accept that.

Creating spaces for girls to compete has greatly improved participation all-round, and elite performance. That's my opinion, and you are welcome to reject it as such.

The failing New York Times is at it again.
Activists and Ex-Spy Said to Have Plotted to Discredit Trump ‘Enemies’ in Government

WASHINGTON — A network of conservative activists, aided by a British former spy, mounted a campaign during the Trump administration to discredit perceived enemies of President Trump inside the government, according to documents and people involved in the operations.

The campaign included a planned sting operation against Mr. Trump’s national security adviser at the time, H.R. McMaster, and secret surveillance operations against F.B.I. employees, aimed at exposing anti-Trump sentiment in the bureau’s ranks.

The operations against the F.B.I., run by the conservative group Project Veritas, were conducted from a large home in the Georgetown section of Washington that rented for $10,000 per month. Female undercover operatives arranged dates with the F.B.I. employees with the aim of secretly recording them making disparaging comments about Mr. Trump.

The campaign shows the obsession that some of Mr. Trump’s allies had about a shadowy “deep state” trying to blunt his agenda — and the lengths that some were willing to go to try to purge the government of those believed to be disloyal to the president.

Central to the effort, according to interviews, was Richard Seddon, a former undercover British spy who was recruited in 2016 by the security contractor Erik Prince to train Project Veritas operatives to infiltrate trade unions, Democratic congressional campaigns and other targets. He ran field operations for Project Veritas until mid-2018.
...
This account is drawn from more than a dozen interviews with former Project Veritas employees and others familiar with the campaign, along with current and former government officials and internal Project Veritas documents.

The polls I was thinking of pertained to trans kid and sports.

Title IX refers to the section of the federal civil rights law that prohibits to sex discrimination in educational programs and schools. I may be wrong, but it only applies to publicly funded schools, so private clubs wouldn't be affected. However, the courts have ruled gender identity discrimination is prohibited by Title IX.

I agree that the proliferation of girls sports has been a boon. I watched it blossom over the course of my life, and it's amazing. Sports have been very good to me, and I'm happy my daughters had the opportunities my sisters didn't.

I think trans kids should have the same opportunities, though I'm not sure how we do that. Just protecting girls sports isn't enough, if we mean to comply with the court's decision. How do we give trans kids the same benefit?

That's what I'd like Jenner to address.

I saw it, but from a different perspective. I was mostly anti-fit for most of my life.

Trans kids all do have the same opportunities.

Take running as an example. If you go come first in a marathon, you fucking win. If you are female, you still win. If trans, you win.

If you want to run the womans competitive league, you cannot, unless you are female.

Trans girls aren't.

Just protecting girls sports isn't enough, if we mean to comply with the court's decision. How do we give trans kids the same benefit?

What benefit?

Just because someone changes their gender, they haven't changed their sex.

It sounds awkward as hell in schools especially, considering the complaints from both sides.

Not everyone wants to be sympathetic to others around some issues, of course.

Reread my post. The operative sentence is
the courts have ruled gender identity discrimination is prohibited by Title IX.
It would be easier to reread that if you hadn't cut it out of the quote. :hehe:

Humor aside, it doesn't matter what our views are. The law and it's determinations are driving the issue, and as governor, Jenner will have a duty to enforce the law. If a trans-boy having to use the girls restroom is a bridge too far under Title IX, a trans-girl stuck with a boys sport team she can't make due to hormone therapy doesn't have the same opportunity as a cis-girl in the eyes of the law.

It's a hot mess for sure, and if I were a California voter, I'd want to hear ideas for equitable solutions from the candidates instead of attractive platitudes.

Not all that weird. The history of authoritarian regimes shows that secret police tasked with ferreting out and eliminating any disloyal persons or groups within the regime are a standard feature. O'Keefe merely stepped up to provide the Trump administration with that service. After all, the Project Veritas standard operating procedure fits well with the model for such loyalty enforcement outfits--it's a natural evolution from devious and dishonest ankle-biter to secret police irregular.
