Row over Iran's women ministers

Conservative clerics in Iran have criticised a proposal by re-elected President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to include three women in his new cabinet.

"There are religious doubts over the abilities of women when it comes to management," said hardline lawmaker Mohammad Taghi Rahbar.

He said his views were shared by many MPs from his clerics' faction, which dominates Iran's parliament.

The Islamic republic has not had female ministers since the 1979 revolution.

President Ahmadinejad was sworn in for a second term on 5 August after a disputed poll in June.

He unveiled his cabinet on Wednesday. MPs are expected to begin voting on a 21-member list at the end of the month.

Fuck! They're letting women out of the kitchen! :RAH:

Quite right. Muhammad wasn't exactly a fan of women, so I can see why these "religious doubts" have been cast. After all, we wouldn't want these dumb, emotional wrecks going around provoking lust now would we? If we wanted to see an ankle, we'd go to a peep show! :lay:

Revolutions are supposed to remove tyranny, not install it.

At least he's being honest.

He ought to have a look at the real world. Women are gradually taking over a lot of the highly-skilled jobs in Iran, partly because they are not under as much pressure as men to go out and earn a living as quickly as possible. So many of them go to third level, and are very well-educated. The fact that there is blatant gender pay discrimination is only speeding up this process, as women are usually much cheaper to employ. Strange but true.

"You sir, are an idiot ..."

I have doubts myself about the abilities of religious nut-jobs to manage. Very well-founded doubts.

There are religious doubts over the abilities of women when it comes to management," said hardline lawmaker Mohammad Taghi Rahbar.
There are also common sense doubts when it comes to the abilities of hardline religious men with stupid beards to speak accurately about the abilities of women.

Well actually, Lemmings commit suicide as a method of population control and to help maintain food supply.
So, in effect, they are are far better examples of self-sacrifice than any religious nutjob.

Interesting none the less, I didn't know that.
