It is also a classic case of poisoning the well, implying, as it does, that if the jury decides Chauvin is guilty as charged, it only does so because its members live in fear of their lives if they decide Chauvin is not guilty as charged.

As noted in Hermit's source, the schmuck Posobiec's ticket to the national stage was Pizzagate, fer fuck's sake. He has an extensive line of blithering mendacity, which is OK if you like that sort of thing. Other than that, not worthy of notice.
Yes, some prospective jurors were apprehensive about sitting on that particular jury, no shit. I haven't found any support for the claim that 'nearly every' one of them was. I wouldn't take Posobiec's word for it.

On the other hand, juries considering the ramifications of their decision (possible public reaction) can result in decisions being overturned. From the same source:Numerous people expressed unease about serving on the panel for Chauvin’s trial during the more than two weeks of jury selection. At least one who became teary-eyed was excused, as were others who were visibly unnerved.
Others displayed no such apprehension. A Black man in his 30s who was ultimately put on the jury wrote on a questionnaire that the Chauvin trial was the biggest case of his lifetime. And he added: “I would love to be a part of it.”
[source]
A U.S. appeals court in 1999 vacated white Detroit police officer Larry Nevers’ conviction in the beating death of a Black motorist, even though evidence against him seemed strong. The court noted how at least one juror heard that the National Guard was on standby in case Nevers was acquitted and violence ensued.
“The Court cannot imagine a more prejudicial extraneous influence than that of a juror discovering that the City he or she resides in is bracing for a riot,” it said. It added that letting the conviction stand would send the wrong message that rights to an impartial jury “do not extend to an obviously guilty defendant.”

Show me a fascist and I'll show you someone who's fucked up their life.Met police officer guilty of belonging to banned neo-Nazi terror group
A man has become the first serving British police officer to be convicted of a terrorism offence after he was found guilty of membership of a banned neo-Nazi group.
Ben Hannam had been working as a probationary officer for the Metropolitan police for nearly two years before his details were found on a leaked database of users of an extreme rightwing forum.
The 22-year-old was found guilty on Thursday at the Old Bailey in London of membership of the terrorism group National Action (NA), which was banned in December 2016.
He was also convicted of lying on his application and vetting forms to join the Met and of having terrorism material detailing knife combat and making explosive devices.
A ban on reporting the case was lifted after Hannam admitted possessing an indecent image of a child, which was to have been the subject of a separate trial...

US Air Force veteran Pam Campos-Palma wept as she watched the US Capitol come under attack on January 6 by supporters of then-president Donald Trump.
It wasn't simply the assault on one of the greatest symbols of American democracy: among the mob were men and women in military-style combat fatigues, helmets and body armour, marching in formation.
A former military operations intelligence analyst, Ms Campos-Palma said those scenes were devastating to her.
"I cried so painfully that day, because it was done in our image," she said.
More than 300 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol riots and dozens more are likely to face charges.
Among them were members of the Oath Keepers, a far-right anti-government organisation comprising current and former military, and law enforcement officers.
Federal prosecutors allege at least 37 current or former military members were among the attackers.
The woman shot and killed by a Capitol police officer during the rioting was 14-year Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.
For Ms Campos-Palma, reports that veterans joined the attacks that day only confirm her fears. She has been warning for years of racism and extremist ideologies among those in uniform, and those recently out of it.
"I've witnessed it first-hand during my career in military intelligence and counter-terrorism and veteran circles," she said.
She was particularly disturbed by video of what appeared to be one police officer letting the mob into the building.
"I had a flashback from military intelligence that this was an insider threat. I thought to myself, 'are members of Congress going to be assassinated?'" she said.
Members were spirited out of the building or barricaded themselves in offices, with Senator Mitt Romney almost coming face-to-face with the mob.
Now, America is facing the grim prospect that some former soldiers trained and armed by their country are using those skills to attack their own government.
Worse, the Pentagon acknowledges it has no idea how widespread the threat of extremists is in its current ranks.
A witness to racism in the military
Ms Campos-Palma is first-generation American. Her mother came from Honduras and she was born and raised in a town near Boston.
Pam Campos-Palma said she experienced unchecked toxic leadership within the US military. (Supplied: Pam Campos-Palma)
She deployed multiple times in her 11-year career, including to Iraq and Afghanistan, but left the military in 2017 due to what she describes as unchecked toxic leadership with a high tolerance for corrupt behaviour.
Testifying on a panel before Congress more than a year before the Capitol attack, Ms Campos-Palma said US armed forces policies were broken or biased against people of colour, women and LGBTQ service members.
She also told the panel a lack of oversight failed to hold to account rapists, white nationalists and abusers.
Speaking to the ABC after January 6, Ms Campos-Palma said the military needed to clean house, starting at the top.
"Toxic leaders weaponise misogyny and racism," she said.
"There is a culture of impunity at the highest levels of the Pentagon. It's not just that the threat exists. It's been normalised."
An Air Force spokesperson told the ABC they could not comment on Ms Campos' specific allegations, but agreed that extremism was a major concern.
"Unfortunately, the issue of extremism in the military is not new," the spokesperson said.
"Extremism has never been tolerated by the Department of the Air Force. It is unacceptable for service members who take an oath to support and defend the US Constitution to be engaged in actions that are in direct conflict of this commitment."
Another Air Force veteran, Esteban Castellanos, told the ABC the military's response to the Capitol attacks was late in coming and failed to address the racism underlying the attack.
Mr Castellanos, who is a pilot and former captain as well as the son of Mexican immigrants, was watching the riot live on television and said he believed an attempted coup was underway and racism was at its core.

'Va. Supreme Court rules Lee and Jackson statues are not subject to state ban on removal'
'Va. Supreme Court rules Lee and Jackson statues are not subject to state ban on removal'
In a reversal of previous circuit court decisions, the Supreme Court of Virginia ruled Thursday that the Robert E. Lee statue and Stonewall Jackson statues in Charlottesville were never subject to the state’s previous ban on removing statues.
“In the present case, the statues were erected long before there was a statute which both authorized a city’s erection of a war memorial or monument and regulated the disturbance of or interference with that war memorial or monument,” the Supreme Court judgement reads. “In other words, Code § 15.2-1812 did not provide the authority for the city to erect the statues, and it does not prohibit the city from disturbing or interfering with them.”
...
The Supreme Court’s ruling Thursday asserted that a “plain language analysis” of state code § 15.2-1812 reveals that the law was only meant to apply to statues erected after 1997, thus excluding both the Lee and Jackson statues. The judgement paves the way for the City to remove the monuments almost four years after the Council’s original vote.

I don't understand the modern American's connection to the Confederate States. I've got plenty of neighbors that fly the flag --from their garage mostly-- but I don't know what their connection to it is other than to say hey, I'm a racist prick.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Caus ... onfederacy
In short, the defeated Confederacy convinced itself that it was they who were the good guys and the Union that were the bad guys, and the war wasn't really about slavery, but rather it was really about states rights and freedom (hilariously, their own freedom, as in freedom for white men to own black slaves, and not, of course, about freedom for black people). This is where conservative America's insane, delusional psychosis really starts. In the Lost Cause narrative, they were the victims of the tyrannical Yankees, and ever since then, conservative America's knee jerk reaction to anything the rest of the country wants is to oppose it. Oppose, oppose, oppose. Anti for the sake of being anti. Anything that sane, decent people would consider progress, they just oppose it, because reasons.
Over the years, the flag has just become sort of a cultural or tribal signifier, for the most part. It says, "this is the side of the culture war I've chosen (or more accurately, randomly been born and raised into). I'm a conservative/Republican/Southerner/coal roller/etc, so fuck you, Yankee/hippie/socialist/vegen/etc."
I don't think that everyone who flies it is necessarily racist, but I would say that at minimum they are either oblivious or indifferent to how that flag makes black people feel.
