Ah right, there was that. But they are also Trump supporters for the most part, so... I'm still thinking wrong coffee for now.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Maybe lak left because he didn't want to hear how awful the Republicans are, from people who are so far away, all they can see is their corporate news feed.
I bet he's not missing our thoughtful speculation about how many Republicans are racist.

In the new US, there are two factions - Wokeistan and Magastan.
One group can lose their social media, banking, business and ad revenue for being seen treating the other side respectfully.

You're right, and I think there's a lot of explanatory power there.

That Dark Horse podcast is using 'gain of function research' as a metaphor to describe how online media is being studied and used to manipulate us.
The story goes, that even knowing it doesn't protect one from it, and they offered the example of Pinterest founder being unable to resist it.
They draw attention to how the engineers/CEO's/etc 'in the know', manage their kids online activities. Tristan Harris interviewee.
Interesting, and one more reason I'm not looking forward to online advertising these items for sale...

I think you're basically right, but for the wrong reasons, and then you draw the wrong conclusions.

I think you can't define well enough where we disagree, to be sure that we do. That's ok with me, because I also think you draw the wrong conclusions. I can still enjoy hearing about it though. Especially when you get ranting (or any of us do, really)

You should take a look at who buys the data the data-mining platforms mine - and what they do with it. I'll give you a clue: they're not Democrats.

Unless you are buying the data, or I am, it doesn't really matter, does it?
Or are you trying to suggest that only one side is exploiting things?

Fairy data.Hermit wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:09 pmI am hopeless with maths, but by my calculation 97,934 hectares of the farmland owned by Gates is 0.056% of the 174,450,000 hectares of farmland in the US. The article I read also mentions that the Gates are the largest private owners of US farmland. It makes me wonder if there are corporate owners of US farmland that own more than that, but could not find any information on that.rainbow wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 12:40 pmHermit wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 1:07 pmHe has some way to go. Is by my calcumallations less than 2% of the area of the US of A.
...but then how is farmland defined?
Can it be some prairie where some buffalo roam, or does it need to be actual tilled cropland?
There could be some difference between these. What sort of land does Billy Goats actually own?
Also worth noting is that the total area of the USA is 983,352,000 hectares.

Why the past-tense? Are you trying to tell us something? Are we going to have to stick another name on the top of the board? At this rate they'll be more names up there than people posting.

Re: All Things Biden: Is It Over Yet?
Our member from Yellowknife did not say laklak was a Republican. Laklak did say he voted for the libertarian candidate, but were he forced to decide between Trump and Biden I have no doubt who he would vote for. Hint: Like Daggles, he heaped criticisms on the Dems while keeping remarkably stumm about the Pugs.
