No, it was sarcasm. Smart people would not trust twitters corporate 'moral compass' on serious issues.

They banned PV because they are acting for their buddies at facebook. To save face. It isn't even hidden anymore.

Who'd win in a fight between Project Veritas' opinions and Twitter's terms of service?

Well now we know.

Cunt's concerns about the power of the FANG companies are legitimate I think. However, that power isn't liberul moral or political power wielded on behalf of (what he sees as) a radical-left agenda, but sheer capital power exercised in its own corporatist interests. The Right have identified a power problem but, by misidentifying the cause and therefore misunderstanding possible remedies, their calls for the rescinding of certain social and legal constraints on human activity actually play right into the hands of corporate interests.

It's somewhat ironic, but at the same time rather telling, that the popular Right think that those who are critical of capitalism--from the softish centre to the hard left--are the ones who carry the bulk of the responsibility and shoulder the majority of the blame here - which is a view encouraged and amplified by the very social media platforms which they find so terribly irksome atm.

(I'd be grateful if our librarian could punctuate my point by posting the capitalist cookie cartoon)

Twitter shows their hand.

Project Veritas is a good way to see if someone reports fairly. It is VERY popular to attack their character, so lies about them are easy to get away with.

It's the same kind of 'brave' that is exhibited by attacking any other republican character.

The spending on Democrats only increased in 2020 --perhaps obviously?
While tech workers strongly favor Democrats, they’ve sent more money to Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who are no longer running for president, than to Joe Biden, the presumptive nominee.

It's a bit of stretch --I think-- to assert that the lean left is somehow detached from the real sentiments of these companies, and beholden instead, only to some capitalist boogeyman.

Oh, have you got something clear to say about them?

Remember, they don't lose court cases that often. Lots of other news outlets have to print retractions when they slander PV.

Of course, they do so knowing that their readers will read the smear, but not the retraction later...

To Sean's more robust point, I'll just say that every summer, greedy corporations swaddle themselves in rainbows. It shows they are greedy. It's like virtue signaling, but it really signals something grosser. My sweetheart has some rainbow sunglasses emblazoned with 'TD Bank'.

Now, being February, I think it is 'black history month', so you'll see some of the same corpor-crats, adorning themselves with that flavour of the month.

What's next month? Corporations hate cancer month?

We're talking about employee donations here too. If you want to claim that a corporation isn't influenced by its people, go ahead. But I think when nearly everyone at your company leans a certain way, there's a good chance that you'll make decisions in line with those leanings...

It's almost as if the morals don't matter, just the mob.

I wonder where the 'democracy-positive' crowd falls on the question of letting voters choose whether they should be required to serve hated groups in their businesses.

Yes. Project Veritas is renowned for reportage that misleads to the point of lying. ACORN is one example.

The only example, and a shitty one.

ACORN was SO corrupt, that any idiot could have exposed it. I think O'Keefe made some mistakes on it, but that is the whole of the 'evidence' presented to convince people he is wrong.

It is far outweighed by all the other cases.

Should TD be allowed to restrict service to 'the gays'?

Or charge more to the gays?

Because where they operate in Canada, their 'moral stance' doesn't matter. The law has ordered them to deal with the gays fairly. Whether they like it or not.

Of course they'll be forced by the 'cancel culture' mobs to start making moral decisions. like deciding to charge more to a client based on their participation in a political movement, protest activity or other risky behaviour.
