Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
And all our commentary on this forum, or on any other social media platform is merely sound and fury, signifying nothing. In terms of real world action, the Senate will either vote to acquit, or vote to convict. The motivations of those bringing the impeachment are irrelevant. There is enough prima facie evidence of inciting insurrection to make it at least reasonable. Whether a sober, rationally-minded panel of judges would convict or not is an interesting but hypothetical question. In the real world, an acquittal is likely. To what extent that potential acquittal is down to the charges not being able to be proved, or whether it will be due to purely political considerations in the minds of Republican senators will be for history to decide. It has already been suggested that a secret ballot would greatly increase the chances of a conviction, as it would prevent future harassment of Republican senators by vengeful Trumpists...

So you are saying he CAN capture enough of the voters in 2024 thenBrian Peacock wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 5:00 amOn its own that might be ok - letting the voters decide. The voters could do that for them, except the voters might vote wrong.

If Trump is not convicted then everything the US claims to stand for becomes a joke.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
Yes, of course. And the tens of millions that voted for him too.
But what I mean is, banning him from running is the 'juicy carrot' they are pursuing here. Are they that scared he's going to win again?
If they don't successfully bar him from running again, he still isn't very likely to win. Unless Rudy sells an AWFUL lot of cigars and steaks.

No. I'm saying he should be accountable for his actions - like we all are.Cunt wrote:So you are saying he CAN capture enough of the voters in 2024 thenBrian Peacock wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 5:00 amOn its own that might be ok - letting the voters decide. It isn't about Citizen Donald. There's got to be consequences for anyone who tries to overturn a legitimate election with violence.Cunt wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 8:26 amYes, of course. And the tens of millions that voted for him too.

He should be given a fair trial and then executed.

Did mobs ever 'storm the capitol' before?
<cough> <kavanaugh> <cough>
But yeah, THIS one was insurrection lol
Makes the Dems look VERY nervous. Strong and brave, of course, but also nervous and reactive.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
The rhetoric Trump used (he DID say go peacefully and patriotically) wasn't as bad as some used in the recent past by Dems.
I guess he gets in trouble because HIS words were effective.

You had to watch 6 hours of Trump impeachment but he certainly ordered the troops to stop the steal. They went there to lynch Pence.

I can't answer vagueries in any decent way.
Win or lose, I would guess that the outcome of this does not affect the cost of any of China's grains.
