We’ve all heard how U.S. leadership failed its citizens with its pandemic response. We had the playbooks, we had the money, we had the experts. We just … didn’t use them.

But it turns out, other countries did. Because U.S. public health leaders and scientists have been planning for a catastrophe just like Covid-19 for decades, and, in typical American fashion, we didn’t just write the pandemic playbook — we exported it around the world.

In this video, we went searching for evidence that the public health innovations and scientific progress this country is famous for are still alive and well. Our journey to find lifesaving American initiatives introduced us to some interesting people: from a virus hunter in the bat caves in Thailand to a group of South Korean epidemiologists who just might have predicted this pandemic.

What we found doesn’t change the fact that more than 220,000 Americans have died from Covid-19, but it sheds light on a part of the U.S. pandemic response that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention: that America’s decades of pandemic planning actually did save lives. Just not at home.

At least this crowd is considerate enough to avoid overburdening the elite medical facilities by not contracting SARS-CoV-2 all at the very same time.

'Corey Lewandowski tests positive for coronavirus'
Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday but is feeling well, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Lewandowski has traveled to various states to promote the campaign’s legal challenges to the presidential election results, but has spent recent days in Philadelphia, where he believes he could have contracted the virus from any number of people.

He did attend the election night party at the White House along with his friend, Trump campaign senior adviser David Bossie, who has since tested positive.
Do I appear to revel in fellow humans getting infected with a potentially deadly virus? Perhaps, but in fact this is observation of the effects of disdain for recommended preventative measures in a well-defined social grouping. Science, my dear fellow.

Ahem.

'Uline founders Liz and Dick Uihlein test positive for COVID-19. She has criticized coronavirus restrictions.'
Liz and Dick Uihlein, founders of the shipping supply giant Uline and major donors to President Donald Trump, have tested positive for COVID-19, sources told the Journal Sentinel.

Liz Uihlein, an outspoken critic of Gov. Tony Evers stay-at-home order earlier this year, previously claimed that the coronavirus pandemic has been "overhyped" by the media.

Two sources said she tested positive after attending Trump's election night watch party in the White House last week. At least five top Trump administration or campaign officials who went to the same party have also tested positive for COVID-19.

Christ, how are y'all managing to get sick? Aren't your driveways like a mile long, plowed through rows of corn? How close is your nearest neighbor out there in the plains? :hehe:

I could take my wife as the example. Shopping trips in the weeks before thanksgiving and then to Christmas have increased about ten fold. Compared to the rest of the year. Big Target was apparently crazy.

So everybody is acting like it's business as usual eh? Same here. The restaurants are full, as are all the shopping centers. The cases just keep going up, up, up.

I don't care about the holidays except for the kids. I've wanted to stay home for years. --yeah, yeah, I know, but honestly, is your whole family Trumpers-- We brought up having it outside, "but the bugs!". I thought that was funny, you'll avoid something because of bugs, but 200+ thousand people dying ain't enough to change a thing...

I don't care.

This shopping thing just escalated from the days when my kids were at home. Back then it was toys and electronics. Now it's home stuff. Except my son, he has a small apt. So he wants "game therapy" stuff. He is bored so he is thinking up all kinds of ways to approach the kids he works with.

Down our way businesses aren't putting up Christmas decorations, the high-street remains un-illuminated, no Christmas fair etc, no Christmas music in the shops. Edinburgh feels like Christmas has been cancelled.

Overnight curfew will stop...what? Drinking?
https://www.kios.org/post/cities-and-st ... not-enough

Denver will implement a 10 p.m. curfew beginning Sunday for residents and nonexempt businesses in a last-ditch effort to curb rising COVID-19 cases and avoid another citywide stay-at-home
