Maybe it's only a little similar, but I can't help but be distracted by the similarities to my fave sci-fi book: 2001.
I kept thinking of this: The Black Corridor for sci-fi/psychological thriller/strange computer thing.

(2001 is still top 5 sci-fi, IMHO, though and the similarities are obvious.)

Pete, Moon is a nice quiet little intelligent drama with some interesting twists. Definitely worthwhile. Just don't expect to be blown away or anything.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I just hope it's not "Saturn 5 Redux".

Trigger Warning!!!1! :
The movie is set in Johannesburg. For me the accents were a bit thick. After getting lost once too often I decided to wait for the DVD. (Subtitles. :hehe:)

It is, of course, an allegory. Multi-national corp. is sent in to handle a refugee problem. Shades of Gaza Strip.

Not making a call at this point. Let's just say it's very busy and needs to be watched when I can back up and rescan a scene (8-9 times.) :coffee:

I watched it last Friday. It's a good movie. A very good movie actually. The funny thing is that the friends who never watch scifi loved it, and those who go to every scifi movie, liked it but less. It's weird for scifi to be made sooo hyperrealistic and political. It's like a mix between "alien nation" and "the wire".
Wether you love it or find it demanding it's, indeed, a movie to watch. More than good the value for the money. Don't wait for the DVD.

Saw it over the weekend. It was pretty good but wouldn't say great. At least it was original and more interesting than you're standard alien fare. Funny thing was quite a few people in the theatre I was in walked out on it - guess it's not for everyone.

My only complaint is that there were a few plot holes you could drive a truck thru, which I found a bit annoying. One of them could have easily been fixed. The other may have taken some more effort to get around....

I left after twenty minutes, but not because I didn't like it, I just couldn't watch it the way I wanted to in a theater.

We'll have to compare notes on that when the DVD comes out.

Did anybody else find Merwe a bit too obvious?

How do you mean, dude? Were there too many distractions (read: douchebags) at the theatre and you couldn't concentrate?

First, the Afrikaans accent was a bit thick for me.

Second, I wanted to be able to back up a couple of times, but the projectionist wasn't taking orders very well.

Maybe they should've had subtitles for you?
