...and what's wrong with it. We're going to attempt to lay it out here.
The most expensive toy always wins. A dad buys his daughter a cheap toy and tells her it's really all about the toy's operator. His daughter never wins.
A baseball team discovers their opponents have been cheating. Their coach assures them that such is life, and that they'll just need to play that much better to win. The team goes on to lose.
...your turn

80% of Americans are living pay check to pay check. 50% of those say they couldn't meet an unexpected bill of $500. If Dad gets injured at work, has to take time off, fails to meet the mortgage, and the family lose their home, Dad blames himself and says he should have worked harder and saved more.

I don't mind this sort of thread.
Mind you, it could get a little dicey...
At some stage, the topic will be mined out, of course...
Never mind...

"American mind" sounds oxymoronic, but the same can be said of the Australian, UK's and minds of quite a number of other nations.

The good thing about this thread title, unlike many others in Rationalia, is that it's not mindless...

What do we want?
Mindanao!
When do we want it?
In the Philippines!
Ahem. Let's try this again.

I wonder if poor Sean minds that we've warped his thread?
I blame Hermit!

Mind, hardly. I see it as an opportunity to highlight the pitfalls of multiculturalism. If a handful of Australians can cause such disruptions, just think what encouraging participation from even less civilized influences may do.

That's an absolutely terrifying thought, given that 194 nations are less civilised than Straya.

What always annoyed me, before I reluctantly became one, is the thinking by Americans that America is always the best. We do in fact have good universities and we have money for research. But in the minds of young Americans and one 70 year old Finnish American, Johannes, is that all other invention, technology etc is pathetic.
It would be funny, though, if we were the first ones to get electric cars in significant numbers.
