Trump and ethnic cleansing
Re: Trump and ethnic cleansing
He is not willing to look at America in comparison to countries that REALLY ethnic cleanse...
Just crying about how terrible it is. He must be trapped there, or too stupid to move to Canada (which is a clearly superior country)
Or maybe, he realises how good he's got it, and this is just an 'intellectual exercise' of some kind.

It's just a comment about the possibility that the interpretation of the temporary suspension may be inaccurate.
It's not unreasonable to suspect this administration may abuse it.

--another snapshot of ethnic cleansing in the US:

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/the-aven ... -projects/New census population projections confirm the importance of racial minorities as the primary demographic engine of the nation’s future growth, countering an aging, slow-growing and soon to be declining white population. The new statistics project that the nation will become “minority white” in 2045. During that year, whites will comprise 49.7 percent of the population in contrast to 24.6 percent for Hispanics, 13.1 percent for blacks, 7.9 percent for Asians, and 3.8 percent for multiracial populations (see Figure 1).

I would have imagined there'd be a larger multiracial contingent by then.

I was thinking the same thing. But despite so much of the growth coming from minorities we still don't mix as much yet. That'll change too obviously.

A minority sweetheart of mine was at work, in a roomful of white folk, while they were reviewing some stats. The HR report said there was one staff member who was a 'visible minority'...they all did some headscratching, before someone laughed and pointed at her dark hair and skin-colour.
They really forget. I think it's the way it is supposed to be.

Yeah, it is likely growing along with the population in general. But the majority of Americans still keep to their own race for the most part.

'American' isn't a race. It's about the only country that bases its identity on other than race (Japan is Japanese, Isreal is Isreali)Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 7:21 pmYeah, it is likely growing along with the population in general. They don't 'keep to their own race' as much as they keep to their own class. Poor people of any colour can be exploited in shit work environments. Wealthy people of all colours avoid such exploitation.

Re: Trump and ethnic cleansing
Dude. The US may or may not be cleansable, but that has no bearing on whether or not the dominant group might try to cleanse it. Do you know what "attempted" means? If someone tries to murder another person and fails, the failure doesn't mean the assailant isn't a bad person. He's an attempted murderer. It's almost like you're deliberately trying to miss my point. I'm talking about intentions. The intentions of the racist Donald Trump and his racist, christofascist Republican party.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 5:52 pm--another snapshot of ethnic cleansing in the US:

Isn't his new DNI director (Grenel, I think his name is) a Mexican guy?

Re: Trump and ethnic cleansing
I'm interested in portraying the US accurately.
~1/2 of yearly population growth due to immigration isn't attempted ethnic cleansing. Republicans and Democrats have both been in power during this growth, and the growth has occurred while both have sought to make the border more secure.
More than 1/2 of Americans think diversity is a good thing, and by the look of things they damn well better!

Yes, we are also divided by class. But Americans report spending most of their time with their own race.Cunt wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 7:46 pm'American' isn't a race. Anecdotally, the schools I work in are incredibly diverse. My neighbors represent the diversity. The change is obviously occurring.
