A minority sweetheart of mine was at work, in a roomful of white folk, while they were reviewing some stats. The HR report said there was one staff member who was a 'visible minority'...they all did some headscratching, before someone laughed and pointed at her dark hair and skin-colour.

Dude. The US may or may not be cleansable, but that has no bearing on whether or not the dominant group might try to cleanse it. Do you know what "attempted" means? If someone tries to murder another person and fails, the failure doesn't mean the assailant isn't a bad person. He's an attempted murderer. ~1/2 of yearly population growth due to immigration isn't attempted ethnic cleansing. Republicans and Democrats have both been in power during this growth, and the growth has occurred while both have sought to make the border more secure.

More than 1/2 of Americans think diversity is a good thing, and by the look of things they damn well better!

Yes, we are also divided by class. But Americans report spending most of their time with their own race.

Anecdotally, the schools I work in are incredibly diverse. My neighbors represent the diversity. The change is obviously occurring.
