The Trump Pandemic
Re: The Trump Pandemic
You can't see that?
Trump claimed more.
They argued 'not more per capita'
Meanwhile, a 5 minute test has been developed, and this is really going to piss off anyone who wanted to see Trump and the USA fail to do well against this virus.
Trudeau is home, in self-isolation, without symptoms, or test. His wife tested positive, but she's good now. It's probably Trump's fault he can't go in to work.

Re: The Trump Pandemic
Of course it sounds good, it's exactly the kind of rationalizing intelligent people are known for. Whether lemmy can take that analysis and connect it to causes for the situation we find ourselves in now remains to be seen.JimC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 4:30 amFrom all that I've read about the changes Trump has made, that sounds on the money.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 4:20 amThe corrosive effect he's had on the institutions and apparatus of government in the US has almost certainly made it more vulnerable to systematic failures and bureaucratic errors. This is mentioned in the article that Seabass posted.
It's been an ongoing purge of people who carried institutional knowledge and networks of contacts away with them. They've been replaced in many cases (if they have been replaced) by people with questionable qualifications and perhaps limited understanding of the machinery they've been put in charge of.
How much of a role did this play vs lemmy's "corrosive effect", hard to say I guess. Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. But that decline was set in motion by a congressional budget measure that predates Trump.

Sadly, many if not most probably shouldn't come back.

Re: The Trump Pandemic
Kellyanne Conway has called on Joe Biden to call the White House and offer support to President Donald Trump. The Counselor to the President told Fox News on Wednesday that his criticism was unhelpful.
“I think it’s really disappointing to have President Obama’s number two, who apparently doesn’t talk much to him, out there criticizing instead of saying hey, here’s what we did that we thought was effective,” she said.
“He’s in his bunker in Wilmington,” Conway said.
“And I have to tell you, we’re not talking about politics here at the White House at all,” she claimed.
“We’re talking about ventilators and vaccines, not Biden and Bernie. There’s really no time for that. But it’s very disappointing when you see the criticism.”

Most of the chef's I know are loving producers of value.
Most restaurants are real estate scams, where the land owner presses an idiot chef into servitude, then milks them until they burn themselves out. At that time the restaurant closes, then re-opens a while later. New look - new chef, same guy collecting rent.
Over and over in a few prominent cases.
This new paradigm will have different use of chef-resources. No more will they be required to contend with a greasy, infected bunch of humans in their face while they work.
Now, they will only need to pay for a kitchen, and delivery counter. The MUCH larger square footage usually dedicated to a bar, dining room and restrooms? Fuck that - that AINT Chef's responsibility any more. Chef can manage a kitchen and a kitchen staff. Someone else can make the people feel special.
A big win for chefs, if they truly ARE producing 'value'.
I think they are.

I don't understand the mindset behind the idea of electing terribly old men into high offices. Merkel is 65 and has decided that this is old enough for a Chancellor and will not run again.

well, old folk are supposed to be experienced and to know what's best. Look at France, we elected an exceptionally young president, and his doing a shit job on a level that rivals Sharkshyt's tenure

Town Hall: Capitalism best solution to coronavirus (even if tax payer ends up paying the capitalist)
https://townhall.com/columnists/kurtsch ... c-n2566111What’s even more amusing is their solution to the “problem” of stuff not magically appearing, which is socialist central planning. They lambasted Trump for not using the Defense Production Act to command companies to build stuff the government wanted. Yeah, nothing like commanding civilians to do things to make them do it at a faster rate than under the snail-like, plodding pace of modern business. Of course, Trump did use the DPA once when GM started dithering – and immediately got criticized for it. Remember, when journalisming, you start from the conclusion that “TRUMP IS TERRIBLE” and work backwards.
The media types were delighted to find empty shelves in our supermarkets in the early part of the crisis, which many turned into an occasion for owning the cons over complaints about the scarcity of goods in socialist countries. Here’s the thing they missed, because they are stupid and unserious people: Those goods that are no longer on the Safeway shelves are on American families’ shelves at home. In socialist countries, there was never anything on the store shelves.
Apparently, the media class thinks there are giant warehouses with an endless supply of goods just sitting there, somewhere, waiting. They have no idea about how logistics work, how goods flow quickly from producer to market and how expected resupply levels need a few days to adjust from a 10 percent daily turnover to a 30 percent daily turnover. They have zero appreciation for inventory management because no one they know does unglamorous stuff like that.

Right. rivals. So the young upstart is not as bad as the geriatric shyster. You seem to complain about stuff just for the sake of having something to complain about. Do STFU already, Svarty.
